Pretty sure this place is closed now. Not sure why its still showing hours. Oxtail Poutine was on point.

Our brunch experiences in Oakland have been a mixed bag but Chop Bar really delivered in terms of food but service was poor. We started with a bit of wait to get seated, maybe 15-20 mins, but they attended to us as quickly as possible and that was a good thing because we were starving!

I had their Yucatan grilled chicken sandwich, a "Mexican style chicken torta with avocado, queso fresco, tomato, ancho chile aioli, served with a spicy slaw". It was very good, everything came together and the ancho chile aioli setting it off.

But the thing that really brought this place to another level was their Bloody Mary. I am pretty picky about my favorite meal in a glass and Chop Bar does a really good one: hearty, spicy, just the right smidgen of tomato sweetness, and adorned with some delicious pickled goodness. I had two, I could have had a billion.

Their eggs benedict with back bacon was a bit disappointing (flavor was muddied) but otherwise, it was a very enjoyable meal. I recommend checking Chop Bar out if you're in the general hood.

Just wish the service had been better. Very inconsistent.
