Korean person here. This place is authentic, their side dishes are always freshly made (and they give you a big variety), and the food is delicious! I find the seasoning to be perfect - not too salty as some of the other restaurants in the area. This is our favorite Korean spot in Oakland by far! We tend to eat early, but it’s never crowded in the restaurant. We also do a lot of takeout and it tastes just as good as dining in.

HOW does this place continue to be so quiet?? My bf requested it for his birthday dinner so we went tonight and it was excellent as ever. Not a single other person there at 8:15pm. I’m really hoping they’re bustling at 6pm or something, I’d hate to see this treasure go. If you’re looking for something delicious, satisfying, and good value, come here! Please. In a neighborhood that’s become too hip for its own good, this place is no hype and 100% genuinely wonderful.
Original review:
My favorite Korean spot in this neighborhood. Been living in Temescal for 14 years now and have been to this place a bunch over the years. Always amazing friendly homey service, the food is simple, good ingredients, and delicious, and the prices are decent. The banchan is plentiful- I think the older lady working there still makes the traditional cabbage kimchi. It was super garlicky and delicious tonight, and I loved the bean sprouts and cucumber in particular. I’m usually not a fan of fish cake but that was well seasoned and yummy too. My bf and I got the bulgogi dolsot bibimbap (beef sizzling bibimbap) and the kimchi jjigae. Both so flavorful and yummy, and the rice on the bibimbap crisped beautifully (unlike some other places in the neighborhood who try to offer dolsot bibimbap). So happy they’re in the neighborhood- they deserve to be way busier!

Really bad service. Hand me the food and she left without saying anything. Never came back and they didn’t give my order complete . And there was hair in the food. Honestly it was the worst Korean food i have ever had.

Being a Korean, I hate to do this to a Korean restaurant, but I have had disappointing experiences in the past few years, so I wanted to write a review.
1. Galbee and Tofu soup ( vegetable) combo - the galbee meat was so tough
2. Spicy pork and Tofu soup ( Vegetable) - pork dish was good
3. Vegetable tofu soup - Blah taste with not enough tofu -
4. Soybean soup ( Doen-Jang Jjigae ) was very disappointing - it didn't taste like authentic soybean soup.
5. NangMyun with broth was good, Spicy Bibim NangMyun was okay
6. Various side dishes but most of them were super salty especially cucumber sidedish was too salty to eat. The mushroom side dish tasted very old and spoiled.
7. Make sure their Apple Pay works before sitting down

Daol has the best seafood pancake and soon tofu in Oakland, if not the bay area. Actual Korean chef in the kitchen.

Our favorite local place for Korean food! The menu has a ton of amazing options, everything is authentic and tasty, and is very family friendly. Our toddler loves the steamed beef dumplings, my favorite is the seafood tofu soup, and my husband loves the dol sot (bibimbop in a hot clay pot). The banchans (complimentary side dishes) are also our fav is the bay. Highly recommend!

I love this place. The food is so delicious and reasonably priced. The staff are so friendly and polite. The first time I ate there with a friend, we both took one bite of our lunch and looked at each other with glee. We've been going regularly ever since. It's one of the top 3 go-to places for us. Mackerel is amazing, Bulgogi is so tender and flavorful, best kimchi in Oakland... you gotta eat here.

We had an absolutely delicious dinner at Doal Tofu & Korean BBQ on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland. I must confess that this was my first experience eating Korean but it certainly will not be my last. Our waiter was enthusiastic and very helpful explaining the different kinds of dishes and why he was putting an uncooked egg on our table.we ordered the Galbi, which is a grilled beef that was very tasty and we also ordered Yachae Sundubu, which is a tofu stew that is served so sizzling and hot that we cracked the uncooked egg and added to the stew! It cooked instantly and added a wonderful unique texture to our dish. We also ordered a veggie pancake, that was the largest scallion- type pancake i’d ever seen. It tasted wonderful. We wisely had a bottle of Cass beer that’s a delicious Korean beer. The prices were very reasonable snd I can guarantee you that once you eat here, you’ll want to return often.

Everything was fresh and delicious as I expected. Came here twice before and was impressed with the tasty traditional Korean dishes, fast, friendly service! Didn't want to go out in the cold so ordered delivery which I rarely do and was also impressed by how fast my order came and had a most satisfying delicious lunch with plenty of leftovers for dinner. We got the Mando Guk soup, galbi, mackerel and kimchi side. The rice and banchan were included . Like it better than ohgane, pyeongchang tofu, Korean Bowl'd , jonga house to name a few others in the neighborhood.Great way to start the New Year!

Absolutely destroyed the food. We got the galbi (must have), seafood pancakes (must have), and bonchon of course. Everything was delicious, can’t wait to return.
