Venue built un-permitted structures and got sued for damage to adjacent property, then bldg dept. barred them from using the unpermitted structures, so owner set up go-fund me campaign to pay for the damage that came from those unpermitted structures that he saved money on by not paying to engineer and build them properly in the first place? How about doing things the legal, right way to begin with and not asking the public to cover your previous financial shortcuts later?

Terrible venue. The burger I ordered was tiny, overcooked and overpriced. Fries were McDonalds standard. The back area with pool tables was closed off. Service was terrible, bartenders and other staff were rude. And the purple fog machine they used was laced with some weird chemical I didn't feel comfortable being present for. The toilet in the back was disgusting, overflowed and one of the urinals was out of order. Also, charging a $25 cover for just 2 bands that didn't even play on time is a ripoff. Avoid this venue.

Everything fantastic, if you want a good time you go Eli's. If you want a great time you go Eli's. If you want the best time you go Eli's. Long live Eli's!

Great metal bar in Oakland with a massive courtyard, and makes you stop wondering where all the cute boys went! A nice reprieve from the steadily wealthier and wealthier Oakland scene, nobody is talking about their new sportscar here and lots of space to see great music most of it metal. 🎸 (though the last 2 metal guys I know who played here were pretty loaded now that I think of it one of them worked at nvidia and the other was a graduate degree engineer from my office ) there’s a baywheels bike share nearby in case you’re scared of leaving your bike locked up here. The courtyard has great seating for people watching, maybe if we do magic incantations all the cool art school girls who have great taste in music will return!

Literally my favorite joint in the whole bay area, and a staple of the Oakland scene. Best staff, best patrons, great drinks, amazing food.

Great dive venue for music. Have heard some great performances at Eli's. We always enjoy the burger, fries (and tots), and drinks. In our experience, the staff and clientele possess that chill Oakland vibe.

A great dive bar, recently refelted the pool tables. They are awesome because both are out back in the patio.
