I'm disgusted by this establishment. Most especially its employees. They are racist bigots & harass customers they want to denigrate. Food was average & smothered in racial discrimination. Revolting.

The staff is horrible and they treat people horribly. I will never step into this establishment again. You talk about tolerance but you don't practice it. Antisemitism lives in your establishment.

Challenging people can really play havoc with your business. There was a young man who obviously who was medicated and was childlike. He was clean, very tall, stout but did not act in a menacing way. He was hungry. I bought him a bagel and the clerk gave him a cup of coffee. He was so grateful. What was so impressive is the way the staff handled him. After eating, he left. While you can't feed every hungry and homeless person because of many issues that can affect your business but it is obvious that the Farley's staff is trained to handle people that are not typical customers. Kudos!!

Stopped by to grab muffins, they are a okay, moist and sweet. Nice little shop to hangout.

There is always seating here, even on a weekend! The coffee is reliably perfect (they know what a flat white, and a cortado/gibraltar is and should be? AMAZING!) and the egg sandwich (add salmon!) is such a treat. It is large enough that my husband and I share one. We always add a pastry as they stock pastries from a range of local bakeries and they bake their own on site so the selection is fun and invariably delicious.Staff are typically courteous if a little brusque but that probably relates to how busy the counter gets, and the space is well lit and welcoming and offers a massive and well curated selection of lovely magazines to purchase and read while sitting there. Just lovely.

Tasty breakfast pastries (that's all we've tried on their menu) and nice that they deliver. The muffins (lemon poppyseed and blueberry streusel) are both very good and decently large. The bacon & onion croissant is good, though a bit salty.

I've been wanting to try Farley's East for a while and I saw they had a Too Good to Go bag of discounted leftover food available, so decided to snag it. When I showed up, one of the workers was friendly and fast to assist me and get me the bag. Inside were five pastries (they were not labeled so I am just going off what it tasted like) - two lemon poppy seed muffins, one raisin walnut muffin, one blueberry muffin, and one biscuit.I thought all of the pastries were decent, but personally liked the lemon poppy seed muffins the best because I love the taste of poppy seed. Only the glaze on top really had the lemon flavor. I was least partial to the raisin walnut muffin but wouldn't say it was bad, either. I felt it was a good quantity of food since it was $4.40 total (including tax) for these pastries and they didn't taste stale at all.

It's great to see the foot traffic, energy and vibe returning to Farley's in Oakland. They have weathered the storm of Covid, having provided a refuge to their loyal fans during the most difficult period of sheltering at home for the workers who normally would line up for Farley's coffee. It would be hard to find a management and staff who were as committed to persevere and ensure that the quality of their coffee and food services would not be compromised.Farley's is back, going on 15+ years of anchoring Uptown Oakland's resurgency.I've been taking advantage of Farley's mantra of "You belong here!" to pursue my reading habit since I moved to Oakland from S.F. close to their original opening after 2008. And by the way: their coffee, food and salads are excellent!
