Please come back! This was the best Jamaican in Oakland

Today Wednesday 11/24/2021 I ordered from Jamaica Flaves two 1/4 J*** Chicken plates , three small chicken patties and two Ginger Beers. The J*** Chicken and the rice and peas were flavorless and dry. Lastly the plantains were fried too hard and the vegetables were nothing to talk about. Not to mention the patties were limp, flakey and flavorless.I love supporting communities of diversity and small owned businesses. This food left a bad taste in my mouth and on my mind.. This Is Not Jamaican food. I do not believe I will be returning back here. Guess I have to get to San Diego, Ca, Miami, Fl or Jamaica.

We just ordered take out from this place. Being from the east coast, I've had the pleasure of enjoying aunthentic Jamaican cuisine all my life. I hadn't found true Jamaican food on the west side until now. The food was flavorful and delicious!! We will definitely be ordering again!

My first time ordering online was simple and my order was ready pretty fast I had the j*** chicken and j*** salmon combination plate which was pretty good as well as fulfilling , Now my second time around wasn't so pleasant. recently on august 14 I've decided to go back for the j*** chicken plate with some Jamaican patties and to my surprise I was greatly disappointed that once I arrived to pick up my order the guy at the food hall said the Jamaican restaurant was closed for the week which was mind blowing due to the fact that it was accepting payments for orders online not to mention I still haven't received a refund back from my order that was placed & paid for but never filled im not sure if I am more bothered with the poor service & lack of refund or the fact that I couldn't get my food Food Rating 4 Customer Service Rating 1

Coming from NY it's hard to find Jamaican food. This is one of the better spots I have found. Will order again!

Food is definitely not authentic. Not real j*** chicken at all. More like blackened chicken with some fake j*** sauce I guess. Rice and peas was even worse. Soggy rice with canned peas. I'm Jamaican born and raised and this is a fraud. Please do not judge Jamaican food from this place cause this is a total let down. This ain't it. Please stop telling people this is Jamaican j*** chicken cause they're really false advertising.

Updating my review because I tried the Ackee and Saltfish entree for the first time! Flavorful and filling for the price (ordered via UberEats). This was a great meal, but if you really enjoy plantains you may want to consider placing an order a la carte as well.

Tried Flavas Jamaican Grill (Oakland) for the first time (via UberEats) a couple of days ago and have since ordered twice! I was very impressed by the flavor, presentation and sustainable packaging — the food travels well. I ordered the J*** Chicken wings (with j*** sauce on the side), Rice & Beans (peas), Codfish Fritters, Plantains, and Mac n Cheese and everything was delicious… consistent to taste. A part of my family line is Jamaican and even though I didn’t grow up in the culture, there’s definitely a sense of “home” and comfort while eating my fritters, and especially the plantains, and rice & peas. Followed up with a Ting! Touched my heart! The only item I wasn’t a fan of was the Jamaican patty from my first order. It was a nice size, but the meat filling was a tad underwhelming (visually/texture wise) compared to Jamaican Patties with beef I’ve tried in the past. I may try again because I’ve seen review photos that look more promising. Overall all, I enjoyed my meals and am a satisfied customer.

The food was DELICIOUS!! As a Jamaican, its so hard finding Jamaican spots that are authentic but Flavas get my stamp of approval. I got festival as well and it was nice and fluffy. The only complaint I have was that I ordered on the site and they were having problems so I waited a little long for my food but other than that, their food is great.

Really good food, beef patties are on point and so are the combo plates. Their food prep times can be a little long but pick-up is easy from the Oakland Food Hall location.

I had the Ackerman and saltbush. It was very good but the portion was so much smaller than the other dishes that I have had in the past. It comprises mostly of rice and just a little bit of salt fish. It also came with two deep fried breads. Overall very good and filling. Would have liked more ackee through. My boyfriend has the pork dish and it was in hot!!! They were both very well executed. Can't wait to have it again.

This Flavas Jamaican Grill is situated in a ghost kitchen establishment. Don't wait too long to pick up your order it could get cold. Best enjoyed hot call the restaurant when you arrive or check in at the kiosk . It doesn't offer seating or dining in options. But what it lacks in ambiance is greatly overshadowed by the terrific Flavas of Flavas. The J*** Chicken is so we'll seasoned , with the perfect hint of hot. Plantains are always made just right with that subtle crisp around the outside. They have the secret recipe for their rice and peas combo. It's soft, and creamy tasting cooked to perfection. Flavas is an absolute must for those seeking that trip to Jamaica on the ship of their taste buds. Yah Mon!

It blew my mind when I ordered from here for the first time. Ordering everything online is super efficient. You place your order, get notified when it is being prepared and when it's ready. You just walk in, check in on the tablet and boom - it tells you what locker your food is in. I am from the east coast where Jamaican food is super well seasoned and authentic, so my expectations are high. The j*** chicken & rice and peas was okay but that pumpkin and chicken soup is delicious!
