Why go anywhere else.
Racist and abusive staff that shouts at customers for no apparent reason. Avoid at all costs

The bartender/owner turned out to be very impolite from the time we entered the bar, even getting extremely racist by the time we left. He was insulting me and my friends (mosty europeans) and cursing us outside after the bar closed for no discernible reason. Very sad for a guy who clearly masters his craft, the historical significance of the bar, and its cool vibes.

Nice little spot with great history. Some folks did not appear to like the rules, but they also could go somewhere else.
Oldest bar in Oakland! Must visit if you’re in the area. Unique got its name here.

A great find! Unique, very small bar. Lots to take in. No food, Jerky available. Outdoor seats available also. No children - even outside.

Every visit to Oakland should include a stop at Heinold’s. Enjoy the sun on their patio or get historic and drink in the bar proper. Their beer menu has improved since my last visit.
They have a house pickle back you really should try! Anak this place is steeped in history, check it out!

Super cool spot with a great story. Bar tenders all know how to make great classic cocktails. Nice spacious patio provides addition space to the small interior of the bar room. Highly recommend stopping by for an old-fashioned and a unique experience.

It is a place that I did not know before starting my trip to San Francisco. After reading about that place, we took the car and went to visit it. Once they have visited it, they will want to return considering the number of years it has been in operation.

This place is a trip. Super old the floor is purposely not level. The bartender will check everybody’s ID for some reason. $8 a beer. Not a lot of seating inside. It’s a small place probably smaller than 20‘ x 20‘. Most people will sit outside. Good choice of craft beers. Dogs not allowed inside only on the patio. I would say you really only want to go to this place if the weather is nice outside

So worth a visit. This is not just any bar, it is a museum. Go and have a drink - and no, it’s not the liquor - the bar and floor really are at an angle! So it is worth visiting. It's not just another bar, it's a museum. Go ahead and have a drink - and no, it's not the alcohol - the bar and floor are definitely on an angle! (and yes, dear readers, this is the place you read about in “never say paint me to a Frenchman!”
