I went on Sunday after church, of course there was a wait. Once we were seated and ordered, the food came rather quickly.

Workers at pick up window very rude. They don’t acknowledge you for the first five min without any updates about your order. And very very slow
Walked in around 1:20pm on a Thursday afternoon. Not too busy. Atmosphere looked nice. My first time trying this place. Waited, waited, waited to be seated. Plenty of seating but sign says wait to be seated. The man running the place straight up ignored me. Wow, guess they don't want the business. I left and went down the street to another place. So glad I went to another place, it was absolutely delicious!

We went here to have lunch and understandable, we were there during a conference and they were running out of food. But to not be prepared and then have the waiter come and tell you after waiting for an hour and a half that there’s no other sides that you ordered after already telling us there we couldn’t get the original sides for our order. That’s complete bullshit. And then the owner had the nerve to come out and say we’re gonna be OK. Sir, you need to do better. The only saving grace was the host Jeffrey who was everything wonderful and amiable. I wouldn’t eat here again if you paid me and it’s unfortunate because the food did look good. But with this kind of service, you can keep that to yourself. If I could, I would give it a -2.

Was in town for All Star weekend and visited this spot. Terrible….. ordered chicken and waffles smothered and the waffles were so bad with the nasty syrup. The chicken was not freshly fried it looked like it was fried earlier and put in the oven to keep warm . It taste like a HUNGRY MAN meal tv dinner. My stomachs was done after this meal. I mean messed up all weekend. I suggest you guys start to cook your food to order.
An intoxicated person took my order! Chicken was dry & hard; mash potatoes were mushy, soggy with hard lumps & potato skins in it but the beans & rice as well as the black-eyed peas were good.
Vegetarian options: It has changed very much since the relocation: it’s much smaller with the same cozy atmosphere
Parking: Indie & outside dinning available
Kid-friendliness: Yes
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes

The food is very delayed, and the restaurant was unoccupied, they should hire more agile and trained people for the kitchen

I visited The Home of Chicken and Waffles in Oakland for the first time tonight for their election watch party, expecting a lively atmosphere. Unfortunately, it was pretty low-energy, not the festive scene I was hoping for. The place was packed, and while we had a reservation, it didn’t seem like the staff was prepared for the large crowd, making everything feel a bit chaotic.
I ordered the nachos, which were supposed to come with grilled chicken. The waiter asked if I wanted chicken but didn’t mention that it was an extra charge. When the nachos arrived, the “grilled” chicken turned out to be chopped-up fried tenders instead, and they came out lukewarm. After I sent them back, they returned just as lukewarm the second time, which was disappointing.
Later, a nearby reporter asked if I’d tried the “Kamala Lasagne”—a special I hadn’t even heard about because it wasn’t mentioned to us. When I asked the waiter about it, he confirmed it was available and looked a bit embarrassed that he hadn’t told us earlier.
The waitstaff, while very kind, seemed overwhelmed by the turnout, and the service felt slow and disorganized overall. We eventually left and went to another nearby spot that had the festive vibe we were looking for.

We loved how the menu items are named after family and friends, which adds a personal touch to the dining experience. The fried chicken was crispy and delicious, and their lemonade drinks were heavenly. Most importantly, the service was outstanding - our waitress was incredibly sweet. Overall, it was a wholesome and enjoyable experience.
