trying to sake bomb and the waiter made everyone not drinking pay for a meal, when we were confused as this was never a thing the waiter lost his cool and told us to leave. the manager came and we calmly tried to have a conversation and he told us to leave and that the waiter didn’t want to serve us. we were not rude or aggresive and the waiter just went on a power trip and kicked us out.

I have been a Kansai client for years. I drive from Point Richmond just to eat there. Last time, my sushi was horrible. The rice was so crumbling, that didn't hold the sushi together. There was barely an Unagi sauce that I thought there was none. The size now is half and so is the toppings. I will return one more time to see if this is the new norm or I just got a bad order.
Good variety of rolls, appetizers, bowls — something for everyone. Someone in our party is pregnant and cannot consume anything raw and we were pleased the menu had both raw fish and cooked options.
They’re generous with the portions of their rolls, loaded with toppings and flavors — I think they could be packing their rolls tighter, the rock-n-roll was falling apart as we were picking it up. We also ordered a negihama maki, Make It Hot, Spider roll, Lion King, and the Katie 2 — all good and flavorful but a little difficult for me to eat because of the size.
Staff are very attentive, refilling water, removing finished plates and miscellaneous clutter — I always appreciate a tidy table.
We dined in on a Tuesday evening around 6pm, they have a private lot so parking was so easy (rare for a Temescal business on Telegraph) which was really necessary bc our party was coming from all over and could not carpool. We enjoyed our food and took our time chatting, and the staff were so patient with us, never rushing or pushing us to leave. I wouldn’t do the same on a Friday night though, it seems even on a Tuesday they were at half capacity.

This was my first time dining here, and the atmosphere was nice.
We started with appetizers: tuna tataki and spicy tuna salad. The flavors weren’t very Japanese, and the spicy tuna salad in particular was a bit too mushy for my taste. The seaweed that came with it was also a little soggy and wilted rather than crisp. I also ordered a spicy tuna hand roll, which was decent.
For the rolls, I tried the Wendy Roll and the Lion King Roll. Both were quite creamy and heavy, so I found myself needing extra wasabi (though their wasabi wasn’t very spicy). The portions overall were very large, so you definitely get a lot of food for the price.
Overall, the food was decent and filling, though not especially memorable. I wouldn’t call it authentic Japanese sushi—it leans more toward American-style rolls. That said, the happy hour prices are very reasonable and make it worth trying if you enjoy that style.
What really stood out was the service. The staff checked on us often, made sure everything was okay, and cleared the table quickly so it didn’t feel cluttered. For service, I’d give a full five stars. For food, about three stars—good enough to enjoy, but not outstanding. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Came here around 10pm after having some cocktails nearby. The portions were great and the sushi was delicious. I will definitely be returning.

Terrible food I ordered takeout. I've had hundreds of sushi places across the country and I've never seen one do the scammy thing they did where they only put the topping sushi on the first and last roll and put avocado on the middle ones. Unagi + avocado means each should have both not one each. Crazy scammers and incredibly disappointed!

Delicious, fresh and plentiful pieces. Spacious dining area, small parking lot, service was fine, atmosphere was fine. Didn't disappoint!
