SO GRATEFUL that everything is gluten free and dairy free here and that there are high quality animal protein options (and bomb chicken bone broth!) as well as vegan options. Truly something for everyone. :D

This place never disappoints and the menu at this Oakland location seems like they've added some things they don't have in San francisco. Very nicely done

If you want fresh, healthy organic food with unique flavors and combinations, then try Kitava! The Caesar Salad is like no other (dairy free) and the fried Cauliflower bites are delicious! A nice drop by and have lunch spot with sustainable food. They have meat of a higher quality and they are gluten free.
Check out the menu!😃

If you are hungry and would like something healthy yet filling too!!!
You will not be disappointed.
I ordered the sesame chicken with broccoli. It is a suggested bowl not a build a bowl.
It definitely quenched my hunger!!!

Upon entering this establishment I was immediately met with welcoming warm smiles and teethy laughter. The well designed menu included large font allowing for legibility and ease. The formatting allowed for exciting things to be highlighted like the cold black beans and crisp red cider. Staying on the cutting edge of technology, Kitava utilized a 60hz 21” display which was incredibly immersive and created a sense of seamless selection. Seated in a well-lit, airy cove within the space, I received my culinary masterpiece in a matter of seconds—I barely had time to consume my Peruvian palette cleanser. The food might as well have been delivered with a bow the way it was so elegantly presented. The second the first morsel of lettuce hit my seasoned tastebuds I had to pause and ground myself, knowing that the entire trajectory of my food critique career would be forever changed. The notes of freshly picked dill from the French Laundry Culinary Garden, paired with 12 day aged avocado culminated in a burst of fist clenching flavor. I immediately stood up with such a force the table flipped—in a panic I dove towards my meal in fear that my outburst would result in the spillage of the most precious delicacy that I have ever had the fortune of consuming. Luckily the dish was saved but I am in the hospital with a torn MCL, ACL and a punctured lung (likely from the croutons slamming against my chest). The EMTs were gracious enough to bring the salad along with me during my harrowing journey to the hospital. I am now on life support but the salad is providing me with enough fortitude to not only write out this review but order 2 more servings of the Plantain Bowl via DoorDash.

Love the kimchi bowl

Kitava offers really fresh and clean ingredients on their menu. That being said, flavors are kinda bland and the prices are kind of up there for what you get. I got the tuna poke bowl, and a hibiscus refresher, both were about a 6.5/10 in terms of taste, nothing crazy. The inside of the place is really cute though, and would come back on “work from home” days —not sure about wifi capabilities.

Update: management reached out about my experience and took the time to make things right. My issue was with service, not the actual food or ambience of the restaurant. Kudos to Bryan at Kitava for amending the experience. I had gone back after this experience and it was much better, staff were super friendly and food came out promptly!

Prior review experience:
The food was fine, I just had a mediocre service experience. I ordered to dine in and waited 20 minutes which they were busy so I get that. I didn’t question until someone who ordered after me got all their food and 5 more minutes passed by. I asked one of the staff members and she said oh sorry we’re just busy, walked to the food pass and saw my food had just been sitting there and brought it over and didn’t say anything to the effect of “hey that’s our bad we missed it so sorry” or just a polite comment ya know? I tipped when ordering and it’s $25 bowl meal, not trying to be super extra but it’s not McDonald’s and a simple courtesy would have been nice. My food was barely warm due to sitting on the pass.

Anyways that’s my rant lol the food is good here, hoping it was just an off day for them.
