Tried this one out too and still one of the worst classes i’ve been to
This place is such a gem! It's so hard to find baking classes for teens and they do a great job here. I wish they were more frequent!
Our team had a fantastic time at Kitchen on Fire for our company event! We started with delicious cheese and crackers, then split into groups for a fun cooking challenge. We enjoyed each dish and the owners voted for the winner. A great bonding experience! Highly recommend!
I attended a wonderful sourdough baking class from Michael Kalanty. Good for all levels of skill and experience. Class was extremely well planned, and instructor was knowledgeable and informative, with a great sense of humor.
Just took my second class. This one with Chef Oliver and it was super fun and delicious. It's fun for date night or with a friend or even by yourself.
The chef-instructors are professional, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.
My son went to the teen camp. I did not go inside myself but from what my teen told me, the place was nice and the food was good. His gripe is that he wanted more one on one time during the camp instead of being lost in the crowd. I’m sure camp is tailored for groups of kids, and factoring in safety protocols and such but for $600 (for 4 days) he says he felt like all he learned was how to chop an onion. Once he turns 15, perhaps we will do a smaller setting class to see if it’s a more intimate setting but as of now I’m giving it 3 stars worthy. The gift and certificate afterwards was a nice touch.
Chef Matt was very engaging and gave lots of extra advice about cooking from his experiences. My class had never met before, but he pulled us together to cook as a team. We made great Thai food!
Wow, what a wonderful night! We had a party for my husband's birthday last night at the Oakland location of Kitchen on Fire, and it was perfection from start to finish. The booking was easy and the communication between booking and the event was perfect. I went early to take some wine and decorations and they were there 2 hours before to meet and greet me.Once the party started, we were given some cheese and cold cuts to take the edge off the hunger while we were prepping. Chef Anthony was superb. He was flexible to how we conducted the event, letting us do as much as possible on our own, while imparting his extensive experience to make us better cooks! We came away with many little tips and tricks to make cooking at home easier, safer and more fun.We chose to make 4 small plates which were Asian themed. We make Thai larb, Fresh Spring Rolls, Fried rice with Shrimp, and Chicken pot stickers. All the ingredients were set out on the work tables and we broke into groups to do the final chopping and prep with Chef hopping from group to group to make sure we didn't goof anything up. Finally time to go to the "fire" to make perfect browned but tender pot stickers, spicy and flavorful larb, and tasty fresh fried rice. We ate the dishes as we cooked and it was plenty of food to satisfy us all.We brought our own beer/wine, but quickly realized we needed all our senses to do the "work" and not cut off any fingers! I cannot say enough about what an enjoyable and fun evening this was for all the guests and my husband on his special birthday. I highly recommend this venue for your next event or party - you will have a great time while learning some new cooking skills!

We used to love taking classes at this place but the last few times we have attended, we’ve had a diminished experience. Our first two classes were amazing and we learned so much. The classes began with a mini lesson and explanation of all we’d do, some background on the food itself, including quality and sourcing. The instructor explained each table activity and the recipes were on the table, and laminated All people were actively doing intricate things. I even learned to shuck oysters!Yesterday’s class was too full so each person did very little. I can chop green onions and peel eggs at home and not spend $175. The teacher barely instructed and when she included the participants it was stir food she’d already placed in the pot and seasoned. Overall ver disappointing and we won’t likely return. And no dessert for that kind of money l?
I've taken two classes at Kitchen on Fire over the years, both with Chef Mat, and they were both super fun and informative. Definitely take the Knife Skills class if you're always worried about cutting your fingers!
The cooking class was fun, exciting, and delicious. I highly recommend anyone interested in learning how to cook any new cuisine in a pleasant environment with amazing instructors than book your Kitchen of Fire class today.
I loved the knife skills class taught by Chef Mat. He crammed so much information into a three hour session! I also appreciate people who know their profession so well they can be irreverent, and also entertaining! I highly recommend it!
Great experience for our budding chef! He learned some important skills and had a lot of fun. Will definitely register him for more classes! Thank you KOF team.
