I love this place. They have the best pastries (all of their chocolate ones are delicious!), great breakfast and lunch sandwiches (with some healthier options too), and quality coffee. I take everyone who visits me here. You can tell they use really high quality ingredients and take a lot of pride in their food. Highly recommend!

Nice place. Great Gym. Gorgeous breakfast

Way over priced for the quality. I regret not taking a photo of my breakfast sandwich for this review for all to see. At $12 for a croissant sandwich and tea, it should be pretty good, not below average. The sandwich looks to be pre-made offsite and is in a display case. They then use one of those Turbochef machines like Starbucks and Subway has, and over cook it BIG time. Croissant was very soggy and the egg was gross as well. Ambiance and interior are nice. Food is very lacking.

Cute place that is like a La Madeleine light. Lots of outside seating is nice. Line up and order at the counter, receive your number and the food comes to you. My order of Prosciutto Cotto Croque Monsieur did not wow. It came to me luke warn at best. The Prosciutto turned out to be ham, that apparently just came out of the fridge because it was super cold in the middle. I think the intent of this dish is to be super warm, toasty and ooey gooey and it was none of these things. The La B breakfast was just okay but needed seasoning. For me the food was lacking but I did enjoy my giant bowl of coffee on the patio, so it was not a total miss.

Staff here is friendly. I got their goat cheese salad and it was excellent. Endives and persimmons was a great flavor combo. Perfect place to sit outside and spend an afternoon.

My favorite pastry is the lemon-ginger kouign amann filled with tart curd. Breakfast sandwich with arugula pesto and a runny sunnyside up egg is wonderful. But menu is a bit overpriced with some definite misses (quiches are mild tasting despite promise of bolder flavors such as curry or poblano). Dog-friendly outdoor patio is awesome.

Love the patio because we can bring our pets when having a nice breakfast. The pastries are great and the people are kind and attentive. Big, big recommendation: make available paper straws instead of plastic ones!!! That would be a big plus and so much kinder to the environment.

Simply excellent. What a gorgeous corner location. Absolutely delicious, French comfort food. What's not to love?! The staff seems friendly and capable.

I have always been a fan...but on Sunday I was on a mission to find a kouign amann...and once I am focused on what I want...I have to find it. Consistently flaky...and just scrumptious! Somehow I managed to just buy one...which is so not like me..I usually have to buy 4! And so now I know where to get them on this side of the bay...besides farmer's markets. I will be back, this is one of my favorite pastries!

Ok, this is more of a restorative justice 5star review... The coffee unconnoisseurs are upset that this French place serves coffee in a French Cafe au Lait style, rather than an Italian cappuccino style. They feel entirely righteous leaving a 1 star review for them based on the fact that the coffee didn't conform to their preconceived notions. Let me say that the coffee that they use, is used by Thomas Keller at the French Laundry, as well as his other locations. In the spirit of limited experience all encompassing reviews, let me say, that I only had their Arugula Grain Power Bowl! I wasn't sure if it would be too much grain, and just a few leaves of arugula, or the opposite. I really enjoyed the grain to green ratio, as well as the other ingredients. (Avocado and toast!) This place is certainly worth trying. I would say that they are a solid 4 star spot, based on the quality of ingredients, the dishes offered, the quality of service.

Great little place that makes you feel like you could be in France sitting in a corner bistro watching the tourists hustle by on their way to the Louvre or Notre Dame. We got a kick out of the coffee in a small bowl! Breakfast was very delicious!

Spent over 20 bucks on a chicken arugula and Cobb salad to bring to work. The bread on the sandwich was stale, inedible. The Cobb had chicken that looked raw and didn't taste good. Total waste, ended up tossing it and running to Taco Bell. Not returning. The one star is for the kind people working there. I just don't know how they're serving this horrible food in good conscious.

I came to this Bakery on 5500 College Ave with my dog yesterday. I was not sure if they welcome my dog. To my surprise an employee came to help me seated in their patio. Then to my surprise she also brought out a little bowl of water for my dog. I ordered a Vietnamese salad and a chocolate croissant. The salad was very fresh and the croissant was delicious. I bought another croissant to take home. Later their manager came and she told me she also loves dogs and that I am welcome to bring my dog in the future and sit on their patio. All the kindness made me feel the sun spread mildly on me and I sat longer than my time allowed. The patio seems welcoming and inviting! I plan to visit here more often with my dog Cleo, and maybe with a book. Vera

This La Boulangerie is the best I've been to--and I've been to several others in San Francisco. The outdoor seating area is very pleasant and the interior is very attractive and well-maintained. The food and coffee are excellent--I particularly like the pastries--and the service is top notch. I always feel welcome and everyone is very friendly, no matter how busy it is. There are tons of other cafes on College Avenue of course, but I find this a pleasant oasis compared to the other places. And parking isn't that hard. There's almost always a spot on Lawton.
