For the beverage pairing, the sommelier showed me a bottle first, then poured into glass. I like this traditional and basic style. It took total 3 hours for our dinner. Although we enjoyed the whole atmosphere, it was a bit long. If there were no blank time periods between dishes, it could have been 2 hours.
I had high hopes for this place and was looking forward to it, but it fell a bit short on the expectations. We did the tasting menu which looked great, and it started off really well with the small bites and appetizer courses. The Arepas and smoky eggplant (soup course) were tasty, but the main course, especially the carne asada, were very sub par. The beef was significantly overcooked and extremely tough. Not sure if it was the quality of meat or the method it was cooked at but...
This was my second time dining at mago and the new fall menu was served. I love the creativity, the subtle flavors and the unexpected ingredients! There's so much care put into their dishes, highly recommend.
