Fraud is not what I was expecting today. My server did it twice.
First I asked for 3 different types of cookies, all had significantly different prices per pound. He put them all in a box and charged me at the highest per-pound rate for the 3 different cookies.
I pointed this out to him, and he didn't even say a word. He went using bags and grabbed new cookies and charged me separately for each bag. But surprisingly, the total cost had gone UP versus before when he first knowingly overcharged me.
I brought them home and weighed them, and not surprisingly he lied about the weights of all three bags. I drove straight back and spoke to a supervisor, who re-weighed the bags and gave me a refund of double the fraudulent overcharge.
This was appreciated. It doesn't change the fact that they have an employee who is knowingly committing fraud, twice to me, and it would be surprising to me if I were the only one he was doing it to.

My wife and I got take-out. She loves their pizza. I ordered a ham and cheese roll. Why!? There were literally a few pieces of chipped ham and what cheese there was, was only on the outside edges where it had melted out. There was almost nothing except bread, tasty as the bread itself was. My wife will keep buying their pizza, but I probably won't order from them again.

Twice I did not get my senior discount & twice I was told “sorry.” Really? And this trip they forgot to give me my Chala Braided Bread & I was charged for it. Bad business & bad service. I want my senior discount from last trip, this trip & a refund of my Chala Braided Bread.

The best bakery in the Bay Area. The only place to find the prefect Princess Cake. Great cupcakes and croissants.

The coconut cake tastes bad. Has a bad aftertaste like they used rancid coconuts and lard or vegetable shortening. Tastes like a cheap grocery store cake. Should be better for a $35 cake. Half was thrown out unedible. Maybe a different baker making some of the cakes now. Quality and taste of goods is uneven and not consistent.
The best place to shop for the best food items. I could spend all day wandering and looking around the shop, it's so beautiful. Fair warning: it's a very popular place! It's often crowded and busy, but nevertheless a wonderful experience.

Just had their Apple and Pear Galette and it was amazing. Perfect shell and delicious filling.

Just want to comment on the Coconut Cream Cake. It was a slice and the edges were dry, (like when you leave a slice of bread out too long), the cake beyond the sliced edges had no moisture, (there wasn't enough fat in the batter) and over cooked. The cream filling also lacked taste and if they used coconut milk, it was a generic brand. I believe the cake was too old, which is why it tasted stale. My son tried it and spat it out and stated, "It wasn't even worth swallowing it." Before this visit, I bought a whole Tres Leche Cake and that was good, and a slice of chocolate and it was dry.

This is my go-to place for lunch and dinner. Been going to Market Hall for the past 5 years or so. Started going at the West Berkeley Market Hall but now frequent this Oakland location. I especially love their soup, stews, salads, and pastries. So many varieties of food options that it can be overwhelming at times trying to pick what you want!

The last two times I bought a whole pizza here, it was on time and very fresh. This time it was late for pickup and obviously assembled from pieces that had been made earlier (like yesterday). So sad. I thought I had found pizza nirvana. If I could get my money back I would try.
