Moo Bong Ri (MBR Oakland)

The banchan was delicious and plentiful. We had mud fish soup and it was yummy. We also ordered kimchee dumplings thinking they were vegetarian but they also had ground pork. Very modern inside, hip and trendy. Menu is super pork centric, so if you love pork, you’re set!

The Dak Galbi was so good it brought tears to my eyes. Reminded me of Korea and my Korean friends. I think that speaks volumes to the food here.

MBR is a Berkeley classic! we got the soy garlic fried chicken, sausage and soup combo, and the dol sot with pork belly. The chicken was very crispy and flavorful and the soup was very warm, savory, and comforting (and the glass noodle sausage that came with it was delightfully chewy)! The dol sot was very rich and flavorful, and the pork belly was very crispy! Staff were very attentive :)

I recently tried Moo Bong Ri in Oakland and got the fried chicken and spicy beef soup. The fried chicken was tender and crispy, and the soup was pretty good and spicy enough for us. Overall, I would definitely come back here again.

Ordered the spicy chicken (M) and it was huge! The menu said it came with rice cakes, but we didn't see any in the pot. Overall, good flavor, slightly greasy, fresh kimchi. Will definitely come back for more.

This is my absolute favorite Korean soup spot in the area! The restaurant is nestled in a small plaza, but parking can be quite a challenge. The lot is tiny, and street parking is scarce, so be prepared to park a block or more away. Inside, there's a decent amount of seating, including an extra area for busy times. Given its popularity, you can expect a bit of a wait. The portions here are incredibly generous—I always have leftovers for another meal. The broth is rich and perfectly seasoned. I've tried several dishes, and each one has been fantastic. The service is excellent, with food arriving promptly and leftovers packed in vacuum-sealed containers. Overall, I highly recommend this place to everyone! It's a must-visit for me whenever I'm in the area.
