I have been to MUA a few times over the years and it's always a special place I like to go when I'm in downtown Oakland area. The food is always good and atmosphere lively with good music and good vibes.

I had not been to MUA in a long time but we went early at 5:45 so it was not as loud. They have an extensive bar but other than 1 N/A beer they have nothing interesting for the many of us that don't drink. Surprising since a large number of young people don't drink. It is not hard to get creative using mixers like Seedlip, Ritual or Lyre's. Disappointing.

We had a two-year old with us, so the prompt service was a big help! Our waiter was great and at once patient but also on top of things. The salmon and steak were perfectly cooked! The baby even gave a thumbs up on the fried calamari. I've supported this owner since his first small place years ago. So happy when he came back from Europe and opened this place. I adore the ambience, all the Bautiste-inspired paintings, etc.

The food was amazing as usual. We shared the crab po boy, fried chicken, Brussels sprouts and no cheese Mac n cheese. We were too full to try dessert. The waiter was attentive and friendly.

Food, drinks, and service were all lovely, as always! I live in Reno and make it a point to eat here whenever I am in town. You all never disappoint!

Very busy and energetic place. Seated quickly , a bit slow to be acknowledged by a server. Drinks were good. Once ordered food came quickly. Had wings, fried calamari for appetizers. One had fried. Chicken- really good beet salad, great blue cheese burger, prawns cooked perfectly. Other than the noise level a really nasty ce dinner. When the music is so loud you have to yell at your companions, it's not an enjoyable experience. Although the food was really good, won't go back if music is always that loud.

I told them my wife and I were celebrating our tenth anniversary and they gave us the best seat in the house (right below the U R Beautiful mural by the staircase) and brought us a special dessert after the meal. Server had the exact perfect level of contact- readily available when we needed something, not overly pushy. We had a beautiful dinner— one of many we've enjoyed at Mua, and we hope to enjoy many more

Celebrating a 55th birthday, there were 5 of us and we each had a drink — shared two salads, one order of garlic shrimp and three orders of the softshell crab po boy sandwiches, finished with crème brûlée (the server put a sparkler in it so we could sing). The ambiance is SO festive!

The service is not the best for the proce presented. I ordered the steak because it was recommended by our waiter (maybe because it was the most expensive on the menu) but the steak lacked so much flavor it was very bland not even the herb butter had flavor (pretty much an unseasoned steak with blob of butter with parsley on top) and the quality of the meat was poor, potato gratin was cold and side salad was soaked in dressing. The server noticed I wasn't pleased with it so he decided to ignore us when I was trying to get his attention, it took 15 minutes before I was able to get the host's attention and told her and she took it back and I replaced it for the mussels which were tasty but by the time I got mines my entire party was done eating. This place is over board for the price with low quality products and horrible service. I have been managing in the service and hospitality industry for 10 years and I give this place an overall 3/10. Management/ownership needs to do better.

Our server was outstanding: Attentive, friendly, informative and accomodating. The food was also great, although I felt the Brussels sprouts were a bit undercooked.

We had dinner at 6:15 pm following a 4 pm show at the Paramount down the street. I chose it because the eclectic menu looked interesting. We started with the Chicken Liver Paté and Pork Spare Ribs as appetizers. The paté was mild and paired well with the pears and pickled onion. Crostini was delightfully crunchy. The spare ribs were done to perfection (falling off the bone), and the sauce was tasty, not overwhelmingly smoky or anything. We didn't test out the cocktail menu, despite the impressive bar. An Arnold Palmer and a Lemonade, both of which were quite good. For mains, we had the Chicken Milanese and the Grilled Salmon. Generous portions in both cases, although the chicken did not come with enough capers to satisfy my partner. Good flavors. We each took home about half our meal. Dessert was tempting (they have an affogato, which we are big fans of), but we were pretty full and had a long drive home, so we skipped that. Service was good. The only downside is that it's a big, noisy space when full. We could hold a conversation, but there was a lot of background noise to contend with. On the other hand, fun place to watch people and absorb all the energy.

Overall, we had a very positive experience at MUA. Even though the restaurant was overwhelmed due to a show at the Paramount, staff handled it well. We found the drinks to be amazing and the food to be very good. My only complaint is the noise level, which made it difficult to carry on a conversation. It's a large open space with high ceilings that is not conducive to a conversational noise level. If that's not your goal over dinner, I'd highly recommend MUA.

I love the food at Mua, I love the vibe too. Tonight was the first time I wasn't impressed with the service. It felt like our server, who also was the host at one point had no interest in being there. Im not sure if there was a language barrier or what but it was unusual.

Our server, Hamid, was amazing and personable. The food was excellent and we can't wait to come back to try other dishes!
