Hip place in transformed industrial building. Good food, excellent service, reasonable prices.

Good date night place. Food is consistently good and somehow better than the last time. Good place to celebrate a milestone.

Food was great. Bone marrow was nice and the chicken was amazing. Shitake was better than most. Spouse stated the guacamole had a bit more onion then personally liked. Drinks were really good. We did have trouble getting staff attention or find someone at times which put a damper on the evening. There was even a time I put my hand up to get their attention and they just turned around after setting something down.

i think we all know what it's like to be underwhelmed by something we've eaten. i have experienced this plenty of times. what is much more rare for me is walking away from a meal feeling genuinely disappointed. the food is uncreative and underseasoned to a degree that flabbergasts me. seeing that there are people who seem to enjoy this place fills me with a sense of alienation that is difficult to fully articulate, but i think there's only one way to summarize the way i feel: this restaurant is too white for me. i know i shouldn't be able to say that because — and i do apologize for this — i could not possibly be whiter. and maybe, for that reason, i still shouldn't say it. but i am not in the target clientele for mua, because i enjoy food with compelling flavors, and they don't seem interested in serving such a thing here. i had the mussels, and they were so very boring. maybe if i had paid less, i would have left more satisfied; i just don't know if i've ever felt like i was getting less for my money. the atmosphere in the dining room really brought the mood down, as well, because the music was blaring at a level that made it hard to carry on a conversation with my friends. whose idea was it to serve bland, uninspired dishes accompanied by a loud dj set? who is this for? i don't know, but i'm willing to give it two stars because if i'm being honest, yes, it could technically have been worse. so it has that going for it.

The service was incredibly slow. The entire time we felt ignored and the guests next to us who arrived later were helped far before we were. Our server Mona barely checked in on us and we had to call her over just to order our food. Our reservation was at 5:15 and we left around 7:15 which of the majority of that time we spent waiting on our food. Once we got our food I found a BUG in the chicken 1/4 of the way into my meal. Our server Mona asked us “what do you want me to do about it” and thankfully offered to take it off the bill and apologized. Needless to say 100% won’t be coming back..

The food was just as good as I remembered from ages ago. I would highly recommend the chicken liver pate, carpaccio, the wings and ribs and the tagine. For dessert, our favorite was the pineapple upside down cake. The apps came out really quick and the service was on top of it. Just be aware that it can be loud. It has a great vibe, but if you want to have a heart to heart conversation you may want a different venue. This place has ENERGY.

Kudos to Mua! Every single dish on point: rib eye, lamb, calamari, crab cakes, butternut squash macaroni, collard greens, gambas al ajillo (shrimp in garlic), salad. Delicious.
And the bartenders are so good: margaritas, basil gimlets, greyhounds, negronis, all on point.
And an industrial chic setting... A jewel of Oakland.
At a time in which so many places are succumbing to post Covid fear and door dash convenience, Mua still offers a high quality REAL experience.
Come out, before it too goes...
Cheers!

The best tasting item was my five dollar soda water through a paper straw. Also I really enjoyed my baby cup. The ketchup was high quality as well.

Mua is always a favorite of mine, so it was a no-brainer to go there when I met with my girlfriends for a leisurely meal. The food is consistently fabulous, the service is always attentive, and the ambience is always very cool. The Mac and cheese, beet salad, Brussel sprouts, and the ribs are my usual go-to small plates and did not disappoint. I usually get the rib eye steak to share, but we passed on it this time as we had other appetizers (e.g., the calamari) and were too full. Mua was a bit hard to locate for a girlfriend who had never been there before, parking can be a challenge but was worth it.

If you're an affogato fan, then Mua's the place for you. Only a few places in the east bay that does it right and Mua is one of them!
1 lb rib eye, medium rare, is my go to here, not the best, but good enough to satisfy any carnivore craving!
Friendly and attentive wait staff. Parking sucks unfortunately, street parking only and it's luck of the draw.

I've been coming to MUA for over 12 years, and it never disappoints. Whether I'm stopping in for a small bite and a drink at the bar or sitting down for a full meal in the restaurant, the experience is always great. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are consistently on point—they truly never miss.

I will never come back here. I hope the price-gauging was worth it. I've been here several times — years ago. The food is the same. The menu pricing now is absurd and offensive. There's this pretense of high-brow restauranting with the same old, okay food at a ridiculous cost. What's more, the prices listed on the menu online were raised three dollars higher on the menu used at the restaurant. Then the prices on my bill were elevated another three dollars higher than that for my drink: I was charged $14 for a non-alcoholic lemonade! The menu we received in person said $10 or $11 (compared to $8 listed online). When I asked the server about this craziness, he “remembered” that they were informed prices were raised for the (New Year's) night. But customers weren't and we just got gauged and gauged. The food and service was mediocre. The hostess was terrible and disinterested. But we also got hit with an automatic $20 gratuity without notice too — for what? You pay more to be gauged!! For the same average food. I hope it was worth it. No more patronage from me — ever.
