Most marriotts I stay at are great. This one was clean but a couple of the employees were quite rude, especially the older doorman/bellhop guy.

Housekeeping staff is not honest. Left a jacket, and it was never turned into lost and found...very disappointing.

The Oakland Marriott City Center is the worst Marriott property I've stayed at (and I used to travel 100k miles a year). PROS: Location was across the street from work. Gym was better than most hotel gyms. Subway station is across the street. CONS: The rooms are super-small relative to other Marriott's I've stayed at. The internet is $18 EVERY DAY!!!! The bed was in need of replacement--in fact I got up after going to bed, stripped the bed, and rotated the mattress 180 so I could be on the side that wasn't sagging which I've never had to do at a hotel (room 1432). The desk is tiny and has chips / wear marks. The pictures above the desk were all scratched up.I would not stay here again and do not plan on doing so.Safety: I was instructed by colleagues to not walk far from the hotel after dark. There is security after dark in the lobby which I appreciated.Walkability: I was instructed by colleagues to not walk far from the hotel after dark--therefore walkability isn't really a thing.

I stayed at the Oakland Marriott city center for a conference I was attending. Check-in was very easy and efficient, the room was clean and ready when we arrived, everything was very convenient, the parking the restaurants on site, so there was no need to leave the facility because it had everything that we needed during our stay at the conference. There was a mini fridge in the room, which was perfect. It allowed me to be able to keep my leftovers, chilled and I was able to take them with me when I left on my last day. I would absolutely recommend staying here again.Rooms: The room was clean and ready upon our arrival. It had all the amenities that we needed a mini fridge, hair products, toiletries, dryer, lighted mirror everything that made our trip convenient.

I live locally so I'm not often looking for a hotel room in Oakland, but my workplace has now held week long events here two years in a row.The staff here is wonderful- they're truly kind and make it their mission to ensure everyone on site is having a great experience. I can't count the number of staff members who stopped me to say "Really if you need ANYTHING at all let me know!"I'd absolutely recommend booking the Marriott for your event.

Nice place, sketcy area. There are laundry facilities on site, but it is hard to locate on the 4th floor. If large groups are staying, the Oak restaurant becomes ery noisy, and you can hear it on several floors around

The App key does not work. The key card stopped working just after a day. There's no water fountain to be found anywhere. You need to go all the way to the reception to ask for water. Noise from the elevator made it impossible to sleep. Had better expectations from a Marriott city center!

Standard marriott minus service. The good: location is central and easy to access. Bellhop super pleasant and helpful. Front desk atrocious. No greeting, no smile, and very abrupt. Did not offer an upgrade, high floor or a room per my profile. And yes, suites were still selling per the appp. Stumnled into the M lounge as nothing was mentioned at check in. At check out, same curt unfriendly service. Parking at $55 plus tax seemed unreasonable for the area.

Overcharged by $60 and bad service on top of it. Definitely will not be back here.

I’ve been here for two days and the internet doesn’t work. It’s like being on a desert island. Even when you pay for internet like it’s 2004, it is not secured so it won’t connect to most devices and no browsers will safely allow you to use it. The staff are great, but god help you if you come here for business.
