I love Oakland Restaurant Week because I get to find gems like this. It's tucked away so I never knew it was there. Highly recommend checking this place out. From the minute I walked in, the host as so friendly. It was just starting to get busy so there was a nice buzz in the place. Not too loud but lively. The margaritas are DELICIOUS so make sure to try all the flavors. We ordered the pre-fixe menu & was not disappointed. Everything was incredible & the service was spectacular. I forgot to take a picture of the ribs we got as the main but it was so magnificent, I ate the whole damn plate. Make sure you wear your eatn pants cuz you are gonna want to eat everything. Can't wait to go back and try brunch! Thank you for a divine evening Obelisco 😋

I love Obelisco! This restaurant is the perfect place if you want authentic Mexican food and delicious drinks. As someone with celiac, I feel very safe eating here! They do not put gluten in their frier so a lot of the options are actually gluten free. I highly recommend their cocount flan which is vegan and gf. Have fun!

This is definitely the Mexican restaurant to take International traveling friends / family who have never had Mexican food. Not your typical recombination of the same 8 to 10 that we see in most Mexican restaurants. Each dish is completely unique and has different sauces and flavor combinations.

Carne Asada was one of the best steaks I've had at any restaurant in a long time!
Even though it was busy and we didn't have a reservation, we were seated and served quickly - and everything was amazing!
Great service, delicious and well made cocktails, maks sure to ask for the habanero salsa because it's the best salsa they have by far (IMO)
I would recommend calling in so they reserve you a table as it's been getting busier and busier as word gets out about the quality of food, drinks, and service 😉
Forgot to pake pics the first time and the second time just took one table pic - third time I got takeout and should've taken pics before destroying the plates 🤣
Carne asada burrito was also delicious, chicken enchilada (tinga chicken) was also very good (not my first choice but it was not my order so that makes sense lol)
Just don't miss out before they get so busy they have a line down the block 🫡

What a great addition to the neighborhood. Reasonably priced, sit down Mexican restaurant with excellent food and drink options. Food has been refined over 17 years at their Fruitvale location (which has since closed). Welcome to the neighborhood. Looking forward to many meals.

Been here twice for brunch, the food has been amazing. Everything down to the salsas and handmade tortillas is top tier (as someone who eats a lot of Mexican food!) The owners are a super sweet family who have been serving food in Oakland for many years now; always happy to support a local business!

Absolutely love this place. The guacamole alone puts it in my top five ever! Always fresh, flavorful, and consistently excellent. I’ve been a few times now and have worked my way through most of the menu, and everything has been great. They also keep adding new dishes that quickly become favorites, which makes every visit feel fresh. Easy spot to come back to again and aga

Have been a fan since they were in Fruitvale. My favorite is the albondiga soup, but love the rest of the menu too. So glad they reopened in this new space. I, for one, will be visiting them for dinner on the regular.

The very interesting and engaging staff seemed to be in a trance, unfocused on diners' needs. Specifically ordered no onions and got them nonetheless.
The food was okay. The waiter suggested rhe pinto beans as opposed to refried or black. Pintos were bland. Best dish was the potato sopes. The grilled shrimp was also prepared well. The fried shrimp, not. Delicious aioli and slaw in the fish tacos. More of both would have been good. The bartender was sick on the night we visited. Some cocktails and mocktails were unavailable.

The food. The cocktails. The people. All are absolutely perfecto!!!
The dishes are authentic to the max (tacos dorados and carnitas are AMAZING) RUN don't walk there, you will not regret it. Make sure you say hola to Alain at the front, you will be treated like royalty; oh, and be sure to make a reservation! Salúd!
