This is a restaurant/bar in the lobby of the Kissel hotel. Parking is a small challenge unless you valet park. The food is outstanding! We had an interesting mocktail with pineapple juice and almond with lemon that was exceptional. Also had a pre-fixe with crab croquets, beef wellington, and chocolate cake. The ambiance is decent as long as you know what you're getting in to (lobby bar). Waitstaff was very nice, dressed a bit casual if you're looking for the white tablecloth experience but very friendly and attentive. I'll go back next time I'm in Oakland.

Nice place to have drinks and grab a bite to eat. I curated an after work event and this the perfect space. Easy to locate and valet parking. I highly recommend.

Staff super attentive! Did not realize this was a hotel restaurant when I booked. Food was excellent as well as cocktails. Was there for lunch on a Monday with friends. Will definitely be back! Thank you, Spencer!

My experience wasn't great the food portions were small and over priced. I ordered a few appetizers such as the Caesar salad, which was pretty decent, the octopus grilled, which had about three pieces and more potatoes than octopus on the skewer, in the crab cakes, taste like more flour, mixed than any crab was in there. As for the main entrées, the chicken sandwich was probably the best option they had on the menu the steak my husband ordered was supposed to be medium. well it came out very well. It was hard like leather, and the giant meatball with spaghetti had no taste. It was very bland. The best part of the meal was probably their cocktails, which I would probably go back for, but not food option. The bill was extremely high and the food was not good. I would not recommend eating here. It's more like a spot you hang out to grab a drink at happy hour or date night for drinks only.

I had a wonderful time at Otto's Uptown restaurant. The service was top tier. Our waiter was very accommodating. The food and ambiance was great. We enjoyed the holiday Moet set up, sooo cute

Nice place but a bit pricey for a hotel restaurant. Also, the selection was rather minimal.

We were attending a show at the Paramount and wanted a walkable restaurant. I stumbled across the menu, and we decided to give it a shot. If you have a chance, try the Poke. It was so different and phenomenal, and a must-try. Service was excellent! 10+ on service.

I’m staying at the Hyatt Kissel and came downstairs for breakfast at the lobby restaurant, Otto’s Uptown Kitchen. I was told it was open seating, so I chose a window four-top. The dining room had about twenty tables, and only one of them was occupied — it was genuinely empty.
A server came over, asked if it was “just me,” raised her eyebrows, and told me I had to move to a tiny table away from the windows because they were “expecting it to get busy.” I ate here yesterday at the same time and it wasn’t busy then either, so the explanation felt dismissive and unnecessary.
This isn’t about the size of the table — it’s about how a paying hotel guest is treated. Prioritizing hypothetical future customers over someone who is actually seated and ready to dine sends the wrong message. Small moments define hospitality, especially in a hotel, and this one made me feel unwelcome instead of cared for.
A simple “of course, sit wherever you’re comfortable” would have made my morning. Instead, it made me question returning again during my stay.

The food was excellent; everything was flavorful, presented well and plentiful. One of the better hotel restaurants I've eaten at. The smash burger is hands down one of the best burgers I've had in a long time.

This probably would’ve been amazing if I had remembered to change my egg from poached to anything not runny. Didn’t realize I forgot until it arrived. My mistake sooooooo I ate it.

Great hotel breakfast with fun dishes. One of the better Hyatt Globalist breakfasts I've had. Spencer was fantastic and took great care of us.

Had a bunless burger last night and the wings and flat bread tonight. All fantastic!! Burger and fries were great. And the wings were phenomenal. Perfectly cooked. The flatbread had a nice zip to it. Very delicious. Thank you for the wonderful food.

It's literally in the hotel lobby which kinda ruins the dining experience and takes away from the ambience, but the food is really good, and our server was one of the best!

We actually did not stay to eat. The server could not have ignored us more. When I finally got his attention to Tate that we had a reservations his answer was “Oh I don't know anything about that...”. Really ruined what I was trying to do which was give my hubby a nice Fathers Day brunch. EFT after being ignored.
