This spot simply knows how to please their clients. Consistently with a super nice demeanor. The food is conveniently priced, constantly flavorful and neat.

I take my family to this great spot quite a bit! This is my favorite spot to to have a good dinner. I visit this spot regularly. The cooking is of high quality, the workers are courteous and the payment is decent. I like going in this restaurant to have a rich meal.

This spot is the one I always prefer. I visit a lot of restaurants but to this one I constantly return again and again. The stuff is very warm and the food they offer is so good. I would always prefer to have a nice meal here. I highly recommend this place.

sadly my second experience with Phoenix was drastically different my first, after which I posted a glowing review. Perhaps the tasteless soggy entrees were the result of the remains of the weekend - since we ordered on a Sunday night, at the end of the long Thangsgiving weekend. it was all just badly prepared - tasted "old", more like leftovers and not at all fresh and tasty like it was the first time we ordered. we could not tell which dish was poultry, and which was beef - I would challenge anybody to do a blind tast test and distinguish what they were eating. Both were surrounded by a glob of soupy mushy vegetables - the entire meal resembled the sort of cheap fare served in the cafeteria-style fast Chinese food to-go walk in places where all the entrees are sitting in metal bins all day - and only they know when it was actually prepared and where it goes at the end of the day. At their price point of $10 or more per entree, I don't think it unreasonable to expect dishes cooked to order with fresh ingredients. Again maybe this is what one gets on a Sunday night - but whatever they saved on deciding to send us tonight's leftovers in the guise of our "order" (which we tossed out since tomorrow is garbage pick up), they will lose much more in loss of future business from us. scanning recent reviews, I'm not alone here. Anyway, too bad I can no longer recommend nor patronize.

The food was bland and not worth the price paid. Wish they would've gave bigger portions. Delivery was quick.

Tonight I got Yeung Chow fried rice, S&P shrimp, 1lb BBQ pork, and Ginger & Scallion Beef. Delivery was on time and food was HOT. The beef was finally hot enough for me! There was about a cup full of ginger slices, plenty of green onions, and several chile peppers, and lots of wonderfully spicy sauce. I gobbled it down as fast as I could before I even tried anything else! But watch out for slices of ginger masquerading as beef--biting into them was a not so great surprise! The pound of slices BBQ pork was also really good, but a pound of it was a LOT of food! I will be chopping up leftovers and adding them to the leftover fried rice (and other stuff as well), which I got because it reheats so well, and tastes wonderful. I ate it three nights in a row, something I almost never do! The shrimp were also very spicy (hurray!), but by the time I got to them, they were no longer crispy. I am hoping leftovers will still taste good, texture not withstanding. Just a word of caution regarding ordering delivery through GrubHub--recently three orders on three different days, from three different restaurants, one of them Phoenix, did not arrive because GH didn't send a delivery person. I was able to get them cancelled, when I called 10-15 min after the delivery was due, but the staff members who helped me were not particularly helpful and didn't really listen to my complaint. When I said sometimes I was able to order from Phoenix w/o a problem, and other times got a popup saying they didn't deliver to my address, the GH person started a long explanation about how that wasn't their fault, because if a restaurant called them to say they didn't deliver to an address, there was nothing for them to do. She didn't get that I was talking about what seems to be a software glitch that needs to be corrected. I will have to call again and talk to someone with more information and ability to do something! But that isn't Phoenix's fault, and I will continue to order from them whenever I can. The food is great, and the staff is dedicated and helpful.

We tried this for the first time tonight via Door Dash delivery. We ordered the sesame chicken with broccoli, chicken chow mein and pot stickers. I can honestly say this is about the worst chinese food we have ever had. I grew up in SF so I've had quite a variety of chinese food. The sesame chicken was soggy, and contained two wilted broccoli spears. The chicken was poor quality. The chicken chow mein had almost no chicken in it. Chow mein was bland. The pot stickers were the type you buy at Costco in the freezer section. Small, dry and not even resembling real restaurant made pot stickers. Don't waste your money on this place. What a disappointment.

Been there (the location inside the market) twice... The first time, I got the chicken wings. They were decently flavored and a nice portion. The second time, I got a combo plate from the "steam" table - teriyaki chicken and fried rice. The chicken was dry though the flavor was okay and the fried rice seemed nearly retried and needed soy sauce. The person who took my order was nice enough, but the cashier was Stalin stoic. Since this part of town is practically a food desert, I might try them once more (either the 3rd time will be the charm or they'll have three strikes and be out) by ordering something not sitting out. Hopefully, being freshly cooked will make all the difference!

Amazing and quick Chinese food. Order and lived the veggie chow mein, sesame chicken, and mixed veggies.

Why me?!? Have you ever asked yourself that? Maybe it looks like you're going to get something yummy based on reviews or someone you trust sends you to a place based on their solid experience, but your personal experience is lackluster at best. Here I am today, thrown off by a reputation I can't comprehend. Here's my take: One star for good delivery time and one for friendliness, a three star deduction for the overall lack of quality and quantity. First, the containers are on the small side and the only container brimming with food was the twice cooked pork that consisted of a few slivers of BBQ pork drowned in hunks of undercooked cabbage. The beef and vegetables dish tasted like the meat had been soaked in vinegar as a preservative, and the shrimp chow fun was a noodle treasure hunt for minimal shrimp. The only partial redemption were the salt and pepper chicken wings which come separated in eight wingettes and drumettes, so don't count on having plenty to share, but they were the tastiest item in the bunch. Four mediocre items for $45 with tax, tip and delivery fee. No thanks, besides I'm starting to experience possible MSG side effects.

The food arrived ahead of schedule. The items were neatly placed in the bag. Food was HOT and not warm. Once opening the individual containers my sweetheart and I were amazed at the presentation of the food. It all had a mouthwatering affect. But let me tell you, after the first bite neither of us expected such quality. And of course we each tasted each of the six different dishes that I ordered and were equally amazed at them all. She doesn't normally go back for seconds but we both ate until full. We kept going back because the portions were not skimpy. This being our first time trying and I know that we now do have an ACE up our sleeve for an anytime usage. I also was humble by the person who brought my delivery. He was pleasant to speak with and speak to. Now I can understand how he is the owner. GREAT JOB PHEONIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I came, ate, left and sadly, I wasn't impressed. This was one of the Chinese restaurants that I've been to where I didn't leave excited. Phoenix Chinese took over a restaurant called, Chopsticks, that was known as having delicious authentic Chinese food! I recently came here with my Meetup to try this restaurant; we ordered several entrees that included: Duck, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Veggie dish, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Whole Halibut. The portions were huge! It was 7 people at our table and the several dishes seemed to be great for our table. The food is not very flavorful at all. I was tempted to add salt and pepper to my food. I was hoping for authentic Chinese food, especially with it being a "Chinese restaurant", but that wasn't the case here. I hear the chef likes to keep it American style, whatever that means. I have to admit that the service here was FANTASTIC! The staff really took care of us the whole night making sure that our water glasses were refilled, taking the dirty dishes from our table in a timely manner. Also, before we left they gave us a little gift as a "Thank you". It was so SWEET! The food didn't impress enough to come back, but I do want to thank the staff for their wonderful service! It was a good first experience that didn't leave a lasting impression. Whomp Whomp!

As a value-priced Chinese restaurant with a good portion of business in take-out, Phoenix is still hit or miss. The pick-up experience here is fine; I've never ordered delivery from them and so can't attest to that. But food for pick-up has consistently been ready on time and well-packaged. The quality of the food is "take-out-quality good" for most dishes. The flavor is there in the sauces, but don't expect amazing quality in the meats. If you choose dishes based on that fact, then I think the odds improve for selecting something good. But as a general rule, if you want completely authentic Chinese food in Oakland, go the heart of Chinatown and have it there.

Nice portion size!!! Amazing salt and pepper crab they won over a loyal customer !! Update: The amazing customer service and A1 food keeps me coming back. I had a minor issue with the portion size of my last order and after calling and speaking with the owner who was very apologetic I was promised a full crab for the price of the half. Here it is a few weeks later I placed the order and the owner remembered before I even had to remind him. I received my dinner tonight and they've definitely outdone themselves. It was like a crab galore
