The food was terrific, but the restaurant was VERY COLD. There is no shield for the door and it was cold outside. So, whenever anyone went in or out, the restaurant (which has one small dining room) got cold. I will return for the food, but wait until the weather is much warmer.
Always a stellar meal with impeccable service. Puquio never fails to delight on all fronts. Best of all, they want you to delight in the food and company so you are never rushed with the friendliest and most professional waiter.

I really want to like this place since it’s my friend’s favorite. So we decided to go again together. But their booking system is bad. I cannot reserve online for party of 5 so I called, they told me to email the reservation, and they said ‘if you emailed we will accommodate you, see you Saturday.’ So I emailed 4 days in advanced with reservation info. Only came here today to find out they couldn’t accommodate us. Without any notification at all. The server does not seem to care much and said ‘it’s probably our fault’. They didn’t offer any apologies or ways to make it up to us. I had my friends coming all the way for this. This is just a waste of everyone’s time. Pls update your booking system and improve your service.

Rude server. And the worst reservation system they have. They told us they cannot accommodate us as a big group when we arrived the restaurant while we already called and emailed them to confirm our reservation couple days ago. And we are only 5 ppl, not a huge group at all, we saw other tables can sit 5 too. They don’t offer any substitute options either, even it’s purely their fault. Be careful if you wanna make a reservation with this restaurant!!!

I don't want to give it a good review for fear I won't be able to get a reservation! Kevin our waiter was EXCELLENT! A perfect fit! Makes the place. Food is outstanding. We'll be back for sure.
The food was excellent all around. The causa negra (grilled squid) really stood out. Service was top notch. A welcoming and fun environment. Sitting at the countertop and getting a view into the kitchen was an added bonus.
Amazing experience!

Recommended dishes: Lomo Saltado, Ceviche, Adobo De Chancho
I had the lomo saltado with an egg. It was very good. The service was very friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely return.
The BEST ceviche!! Our favorite East Bay restaurant. They perform fine dining touches without the high prices. Sit at the counter and watch the show. Super friendly staff, especially the adorable maitre d'. Everything on the menu is delish! All the wines are $60 and well-chosen to go w/the food. If we lived in the East Bay, we'd be regulars. LOVE THIS PLACE!!

Pucquio is one of those rare places that you remember long after you leave. The food is authentically Peruvian, prepared with precision, soul, and a true respect for flavor. Every dish stands out, but my absolute favorite is the Adobo de Chancho — tender, deeply seasoned, and cooked to perfection. It’s the kind of dish you crave again the next day.
One of the things I love most is that the kitchen is right in the background. You can see the chef in action, hear the movement, and smell the dishes as they come alive.
The dessert, the Combinado Clásico, was unforgettable — a beautiful trio of rice pudding brûlée, grilled pineapple, and purple corn sorbet. Elegant, balanced, and the perfect finish to a world-class meal.
And the service… truly amazing. Warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure every guest feels taken care of.
Pucquio is a gem in Oakland, and honestly, worthy of a Michelin star.
A dining experience that stays with you — highly recommended.

Drove an hour and got there 7 minutes early for my reservation. Stood waiting, was never acknowledged, and when I let them know I was there for my reservation, was rudely told, “it’s at 6:15”, and they walked away. There were three empty table and three places at the bar. I called my family and we canceled. I let the server know that I thought he was very rude, he did not seem to care.

Wonderful birthday celebration. Food was exceptional and Kevin was an A++ server. We can't wait to return.
We made a reservation for a weeknight dinner at Pucquio to celebrate a family birthday, and it was really special. We prefer outdoor seating, so it was nice to have the option, especially accommodating our senior dog.
The service was exceptional – Kevin was our server, and we got to meet the owner as well. Kevin was really memorable, going above and beyond us to make us feel welcome and tended to.
We started with the cebiche and chicharron, and for mains, we split the lomo saltado, aji de gallina, and adobo de chancho. Everything was super flavorful! My favorites were the cebiche – super bright flavors – and aji de gallina – I could eat that every day.
For dessert, we tried their fried dough, which was a bit sour for our taste but super interesting.
The menu is pricey, so we would come for special occasions, but we would be so thrilled to enjoy their stellar food and service again.

One of my favorite restaurants in the East Bay! I ordered the quinoa salad, vegetarian plate, tacu tacu (rice and beans), sweet plantains, chicha morada to drink, and the chicha morada and mint sorbets for dessert.
