My family has been going here for years but the quality of food has gotten so bad that we will not be returning. Chicken is dry and sparse on the teriyaki. Bugs are flying around. Place feels dirty.

Beware!!!!!!! of this sushi restaurant. I have been here several times, but my last visit crossed the line. One of their new servers, Jimmy, tried to scam me by taking the merchant copy of my receipt, writing in a 25 percent tip for himself, and only handing me the customer copy hoping I would not notice.

When I called him out, he said, “You’re not going to tip me?” That is not just rude, it is fraud. No one gets to decide their own tip or alter a signed receipt. This is illegal, dishonest, and a complete violation of customer trust.

I always tip based on service earned, not entitlement or manipulation. Management needs to address this immediately because this kind of behavior can destroy a business’s reputation fast.

Check your receipts. Always.

I really like the food at this place. The sushi is yummy (if you like lots of sauce and Americanized sushi, which I do.) However, the rolls can be pretty expensive, and sometimes too large/ full of rice for my liking. Also the restaurants interior is a little out dated and uninviting. Street parking on Piedmont can be a challenge, but there’s a paid lot nearby.

Today, the chicken used for the Teriyaki bowl was dry and overcooked. Hopefully this will be resolved going forward. However great food here.

Evidently this is my daughter’s favorite sushi spot and I can’t believe that it was my first time there. Truly delicious food! The Alameda Roll has all of my favorites—salmon, tuna and unagi, plus snow crab! I asked for it spicy and they totally hit the spice mark. Very filling and very reasonably priced. RnR is a neighborhood gem and I’m very surprised that I hadn’t bothered to eat there before. It appears as a hole in the wall restaurant however, it totally delivers. Efficient service, happy staff, really good vibes. A true neighborhood keeper.
Cheers!

Visited Oakland for work purposes and met a friend for lunch. I ordered two different sushi rolls, both very fresh. The food was great. It was my friends favorite sushi spot and of course her food was good as well. I'll most certainly be back on my next visit.

Not fancy but high quality and tasty. Poke bowls aren't inexpensive. $25-$29 for poke bowl with fish. They don't have brown rice, but the bed of salad for the poke bowl is good.
