I am not one to rag on places for doing mediocre BBQ. I typically just make it at home and don't order elsewhere.
That said, we decided to get a few dinners tonight. I've never seen ribs and brisket cooked line they were boiled and then covered in sauce? The sauce wasn't the worst but everything was fall off the bone most with zero texture. Bring your grams who doesn't have teeth? The hot link was great. Not sure what their putting in the coleslaw but it tasted like cancer. I didn't even bring it home for my chickens (I eat the eggs)
Really was hoping for something good. Love club tac and Crockett! Not a hater just had a terrible meal.

Worst food ever!!!! Ribs tasted boiled and flavorless. They try and make up for it by adding a bottle of bbq sauce on top. Disgusting!

The food here is delicious! 😋 You will walk away satisfied, happy and planning your next return date!
Best in Oakland
I'm so happy to find Ruby Q by chance on Goole Map. We ordered 3 way combo, spare ribs, brisket, and chicken. All of them are delicious! I also like their potato salad. I want to try seafood gumbo too. Since I lile dry BBQ too, I'll ask them to set the sauce on the side. Thanks, Ruby Q! :)
Got here late on Mother’s Day yesterday & was greeted warmly by a gentleman who told us they had limited offerings remaining but that he would make up what they had: Ribs, Potato Salad & Baked Beans. I am Texan okay? We do not play with BBQ in Texas. The ribs are hands down the best BBQ ribs I’ve had outside of Texas. I didn’t even think it was possible to compete with Texan BBQ in California! Well. This spot makes dreams come true apparently! I now refuse to get BBQ elsewhere. A true celebration of motherhood: sitting in bed gnashing on the heavenly Ruby Q ribs & moaning in glee all the way through.

Makes my mouth water ? I had the link dinner, potato salad & beans. Also ordered a side of brisket. I will try everything on this menu!
I got the ribs and brisket. The ribs were tender and brisket had a good chew. 5 stars. meat itself had a nice smoky flavor. Both BBQ sauces were very good. The side dishes are the best BBQ restaurantI've ever had. The bake bean and potato salad must try. I will definitely be back to try other meats and side dishes!

The Gumbo was outstanding tonight. Flavored just right to come out of a restaurant. Excellent Rubin! During Shut down this establishment is still open trying to survive. OMG, the food is excellent I also tried their Taco, and their seasoned vegetables. Just scrumptious! I love this place.
Yesterday, I stumbled upon this place and I’m glad I did. I tried the peach cobbler and it’s very tasty. The owner is an Oakland native. He was so easy to talk to and shared his powerful testimony of wanting to cook to make a difference and keep his family history and Oakland roots strong. Our dollar has power and I encourage us to support it at this business.
I recommend this business. The service was excellent. The ribs were tender, the meat fell off of the bones and I liked the barbecue sauce. The potato salad was good, it tasted homemade. The baked bean were okay. The peach cobbler was good but it was a bit overcooked. The portions were a good size and the price are fair. I will go back again.
Stumbled across this and almost left because they weren’t open yet, so glad we didn’t. If you’re looking for bbq this is a must have!
