I really wanted to like this place . I was very excited to try it out. The atmosphere is the main thing it has going for it and it has a cool vibe, but that’s about it. When you get to your table you realize you have to pull out your phone to see the menu and then I look around at the restaurant and I realize everyone has their phone out to look at the menu . This makes the service feel impersonal and distant . When I go out and spend this kind of money I wanna feel like I am having an experience and I certainly don’t wanna be on my phone. Then there is the food which was fine, but very underwhelming and not worth the price. The drinks were ok. Unfortunately I won’t be back.

Although we enjoyed our time, we were disappointed when we tried to order more drinks but couldn't get the attention of the waitress. We waited for over 30 minutes with empty glasses. The ambiance was fantastic, and the staff appeared friendly, but we didn't get a chance to try the food.

Great cocktail bar for small groups. The Afro-lantio fusion makes for some delicious food! It’s safe to say I was not disappointed and will be coming back for more cocktails and food. The service here was wonderful. I sat at the bar and had a good time with talking with the bar tender and waitresses that walked past.Parking: Street parking available, free or paid depending on the time of day you park

I’ve never given a place less than 5 stars, and honestly I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. The vibe in here was unmatched. Easily one of the coolest, most curated spots I’ve been. The music was cool, the people were cool. Even though it was a small restaurant the tables all felt intimate. Everyone in there was having their own conversations. The lighting was dim and romantic but sexy. The music wasn’t too loud but it added to the atmosphere. The reason I gave the service a 3 was because although our server was so super sweet, she forgot the specials mid sentence and it took FOREVER to get anything we ordered. We just sat there for 30 mins after putting in our drink order. I don’t mind if a place is busy and they are short staffed, but it seemed the people next to us had two rounds of drinks and two plates before we even got our first drink. That kind of sucked. The food itself was so close to perfect. The skirt steak tasted perfect but was over cooked for my liking, and the lamb osso bucco was cooked perfectly but it was crazy salty! So disappointing honestly. It was almost there! Then last, another reason that affected my service score, the host came up to us and told us they had to seat another party at our table in about 5 mins so we basically had to kick rocks. And I get it, I would totally be cool with it because they have to make their money, but it wasn’t cool that it took so long for us to get everything. We still had a full plate when they came up to us. They came right back and told us nevermind but we got the check and left anyway. Overall, I really really love this place. If the food and service were just a bit more polished I would not only recommend this place but I’d happily come back.

As always Nelson does not disappoint. I have been a regular at Alamar Dominican Restaurant Oakland but this was my first brunch at Sobre Mesa. It was a girls brunch and we had a great time. Paul our server was friendly and took care of us. Would definitely go back again.

The food was amazing! I did request a table not high chairs and we were seated in a back corner on high chairs. I was basically touching the plant next to me. The server wasn't good and rude as well. The food was the only highlight I definitely probably won't be back.

It was my first time there. It was a girls night out dinner and cocktails kind of a night. The food was delicious. The drinks were not and the server we had was very rude, condensending and invasive. I don't know if she was having a bad night, but her attitude was less than expected for someone in this industry. My tip reflected that and I was quite generous considering she did not deserve anything at all.

I had a wonderful experience visiting Sobre Mesa it was my first time. Their food was delicious and the ambience was amazing. It was a little small inside but the decor was very welcoming and friendly. The bartender made the best drinks I had the “Famaliar” it was so lovely. Overall I had a spectacular time my only critique was I did have to wait for about ten minutes to be seated even with a reservation.

They have brunch on the weekends. Shrimp and grits are out of this world! Very flavorful. They also have non-alc cocktails.

Ooph, big miss on Valentine's Day... service was super slow, food was cold, we were kicked out of our table without dessert because they ran out of time... used to be a cool spot but it was pretty embarrassing to see the state of things... hope they can figure it all out, we need good restaurants in Oakland!

Tapas were unique & flavorful but the options seemed limited. The recommended cocktail we ordered ended up being out of stock, & we didn't really like either of the cocktails we ordered. Service was friendly but not attentive. Very expensive ($200) for 2 people (2 cocktails, 1 beer, 6 tapas & dessert). Overall, glad we tried it but won't got back.

Review time ! I'm late with this one but here we go. Me and my friend came here on a fluke . We were looking for yummy food and places that don't close at 10. Pulled up my Yelp and found this gem. They card you at the door since it has a bar. When you walk in it's dim with vibrant lights so the ambiance is real cute : I loved the decor / set up it's a vibe . Our host and waitress were very nice , attentive and great convo . Makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first time . The food ! Wow I was very impressed . The menu is small and they change items from time to time . I was skeptical because there wasn't much to choose from but boy was I impressed ! First of all can we say FRESH INGREDIENTS! The flavors of everything was so robust you don't need to add anything to your dish ! The wings were so plump and the home made ranch was so everything . Oysters were fresh ! The potatoes were seasoned so good don't even need ketchup. The brussel sprouts AMAZING and I'm not even a huge fan of brussel sprouts they have to be cooked right and they nailed it . And the shrimp dish was yummy ! Comes with a sauce and some bread to slurp all that delicious glory ! We left very happy and even had leftovers ! My only thing was the seating . They have seating but it was packed that night and they have a few tables going along the back wall by the restroom. We were sat there but luckily a table opened up so we were moved and able to really enjoy the ambiance . I definitely recommend and will come back ! Next time to try some drinks because other reviews say th y have great choices !
