This place truly deserves its star. Every dish we tried was deceptively simple yet layered with complexity and intention. The dashi egg custard tart was one of the best bites I’ve had in a long time; I could have easily eaten a dozen. Exceptional food, attentive service, and an all-around a memorable dinner.

Everything was absolutely delicious. No notes! Except I wish they also had a bakery so I could just order the dashi egg tart with roe and lapchong brioche anytime I wanted.

Sun Moon Studio is a very personal experience - it's a tiny restaurant with four tables and you get to meet all the staff. The food was excellent, my favorite was the mt. lassen trout. I ordered the pairing as well. There were nice surprises like Sake and unusual wines. I've had wine pairings before where the food and wine together blew my mind. In this case both were great but it wasn't a 1+1=3 situation. The service was excellent. I would definitely recommend.

Sun Moon Studio was a delightful surprise. The moment we stepped through the curtain we felt special and welcomed. We were late due to severe traffic, but they understood.
