Great Taco truck. Had burrito El pastor with everything - rice, pinto beans, onions, cilantro, sour cream, salsa. Delicious. Can eat it while holding in one hand. Next time I probably order no sour cream and add avocado, it was a little too wet for me.

This is my favorite taco truck in East Oakland based on taste alone. Service is friendly too and it's super quick. But I just realized they charge $1.50 to use a card?? One time I got charged $16 for a veggie burrito, which I order every time, next time it was $14.40, and yesterday I got charged $15.50 to my card after he said the price was $14. First of all $14 for a veggie burrito I guess is normal now but it's still too much, should be $12 or less. Then one time I got a burrito and a can of coke and got charged $21.04. That's way too much.
I guess my fault for not bringing cash but pay attention to your card transactions. Non-transparency with prices and fees is one way to lose customers. My favorite burrito in the town but now I don't want to go back because I have no idea what I'll be charged. I may look like someone who demographically has money but in reality I can't afford to be charged just whatever comes to their head at the time.

The breakfast burrito was so bomb. The tortilla was so soft, the salsas are fresh and flavorful, and as a veggie option it was super filling avocado, potato and egg.
Agua fesca was also fresh and flavorful.
The service is so lovely kind answered our questions etc
Go visit!

I wasn’t too impressed with the food at Tacos El Melon. They are parked right in front of the Planet Fitness lot on MacArthur. I tried their regular tacos, quesabirria tacos, and a quesadilla. I arrived around 5:45pm, but they oddly started closing up right after I got my food even though their posted hours said they were open until 7pm.
As for the food itself, the meat was disappointingly tough and chewy, like a jerky texture. I’m usually all for a greasy taco, but these were excessively greasy and felt overly heavy after one bite. The quesabirria tortillas didn’t even seem like they had been dipped in the consommé, which took away from the flavor and texture I was expecting.

The food and service here was fire!!!! We visited SF for the week (i know this isn't actually located in SF but still) it was the best food we ate. Everything else we ate during our trip seemed touristied-up and not truly authentic and/original. I just wished I didn't have to eat it in my car. I would had been content sitting on public benches. But at least there was parking....

Amazing vegetarian burrito, wonderful tortillas and fresh ingredients. And really nice staff! I have put it in my top three of burrito spots in Oakland, maybe even #1.

Warning: This is a taco truck located in Oakland. Please do not leave your car unattended, as there’s a high risk of break-ins in the area.
That said, Tacos El Melón is absolutely worth a visit for their awesome tacos and burritos! We tried the carne asada burrito, and it was fantastic—the meat was flavorful, tender, and they didn’t skimp on it (unlike other places that overload with rice and beans). The salsas were excellent, adding the perfect kick to every bite. On top of that, the people running the truck are super nice and make the experience even better. Highly recommend this spot for authentic and satisfying Mexican food—just take precautions with your vehicle!

All time favorite taco truck.
The guys are on point!
Super friendly; they remember my young son’s name and his favorite order.
The quality of the food is second to none; I’ve had almost everything on the menu and nothing falls short of amazing! Full on, eye closing, forget the world around you good.
Personal favs are Cabeza tacos or carnitas burrito.
So thankful they’re so close and serving such delicious, affordable food.
Do yourself a favor and get down there.

We love Tacos El Melon! We live just around the corner and will stop by to get tacos on the way home from the park. The guys know our son by name and are always so friendly. The service is exceptional. I always get the al pastor tacos and those never disappoint. They even know my 2 year old son likes his pollo asado taco plain and whip that up for him no problem. Today we switched it up and my husband picked up a carnitas burrito for us to share. The carnitas was perfectly crispy yet still so moist and the flavors were perfect! I wish we had gotten two instead of sharing one! This is a must visit if you’re in the Laurel area!

Dude this place smacks. My boyfriend and I got a burrito, tacos, and quesabirria taco. All bomb. So savory, juicy, fresh, flavorful. The salsas were good too, I don’t usually like salsa verde but even that was delish. So happy I live nearby!
