The owner was kind but very pushy trying to sell me a 4 dollar bottle of water when I would rather just drink my own saliva. I made it clear I didn't want it buy he kept insisting that I buy it so I just left.

Can't really count on this guy being here in the morning. At 6am sometimes I see him opening, and other days it's 7am. I went in at 7am to grab some quick items, and I was greeted very rudely with a gesture of ‘what do you want from me?' and the inhospitable “I'm busy I just opened.” I responded “clearly you haven't opened yet” and walked out. I won't be returning.

Bad customer service. He would not give change for a small purchase on a small bill. Most things are way overpriced.

I've been here 5 times and the lotto is never working. I've tried buying candy and the owner says credit cards are down. He doesn't even look at me half the time that I try to talk to him.

The owner is the coolest guy ever. Super convenient and he has everything you need. Support local business owners in Oakland like Sam.

Take 5 sells newspapers, lotto tics, snacks, chips, drinks. it's a nice alternative to going to walgreens and waiting in line. no lines here for my lotto tics. 3.5 stars/

Went in with $5.00 cash and wanted one lotto ticket. Man told me he had no change. He had change for the man before who bought a bunch of scratchers and the lady after me who bought a candy bar, but not for me and my $1.00 lotto ticket. I really hate it when vendors do this. It's not like I was trying to break a $20 with a .25 cent gum purchase. I honestly wanted a lotto ticket and my smallest bill was a five which seemed to me to be reasonable. If they don't like dealing with lotto purchases, then maybe they shouldn't sell lotto tickets?

I love this place for one reason: Bart tickets. Like a fool, I used to buy my Bart tickets with Commuter Checks at the Walgreens upstairs. I'd have to wait in line for god knows how long and then they'd have to feed each check through the register machine thing--with 4 checks, it would take 1-2 minutes once I got to the counter. Ridic! Now I just walk out of Bart and into Take Five, hand over my checks, and he hands me my tickets. I'm literally in and out in less than 30 seconds EVERY TIME. Momma didn't raise no fool...
