Really tasty tamales! They're a bit small, reflected in the price. The corn talales were the best and the chile and cheese were also delicious. The chicken and pork were a little light on filling, but still very tasty. But the green sauce! They should bottle that stuff, it's SO good!

Bean + cheese and jalapeño + cheese pupusas were amazing!!!! Salsa verde is also very tastyI would say comparable to los olivos on foothill and panchitas in the missionvery impressed! ❤️‍? went 3 times this week alone ?(there are two trucks here, this is about the purple Tamales Acapulco to the right of the parking lot)

TL: DR: Don't shop here!!! The older Latina woman is super homophobic and not shy about demeaning her child using homophobic slurs. * Background: I used to go here regularly - once a week or so. The tamales are affordable and while small are decent. Then we had a bad experience with the older Latina woman who had her kid go get her some food and when he came back crying, started cursing him out using homophobic language. Do not spend your hard earned money here when there are so many good tamale places nearby. *

Better than average for East Bay. The cost is $3.50. I purchase mine on April 28, 2023. I will buy them again when I am in the area.

So good!! I purchased 4 dozen for family and sharing with neighbors. Doña Lupe's is now my go-to for tamales. Great service by phone and very friendly at pick-up. See you soon!

These are Tamales con Sazón and they are large! I'm born and raised in LA and haven't had a good street tamale in a while. Their queso con rajas are bomb! And heard from familia that their pork is on Point! Will be back next Xmas for more!

Firstly I love that they are hustling and have many options for Tamales! You will find the cart located most likely on the right side of Cardenas parking lot on the sidewalk. The prices are great! The size is a normal tamale so get a coupleI appreciate that they have a variety to pick from when it comes to flavors. The downside for me is that the Queso con Rajas (cheese with chilies) is a pass - the cheese, even when the tamale is hot is hard and no melted. I would come back for the convenience and price

Muchas gracias Dona Lupe, your tamales are so, so good and so reasonably priced. This is a food cart in the parking lot of Cardenas. Cash (or venmo) only. When I was there, a young guy was serving it up and mentioned his mom was Lupe and she makes all the tamales. While I was there, quite a few local guys were walking up for their tamale fix and ordering in Spanish, a good sign, for sure!I picked up 18 tamales (for $22) to bring to a potluck, and you can bet I was a beloved guest. I went with the three options they were serving up: spicy pork, chicken and cheese and jalapeno. My favorite of the three were the chicken smothered in that green salsa that provide. The cheese one would have been incredible if I ate it when it was more melty. I ate them a few hours after the fact and the cheese was a bit hardened by then. The tamales are "small", but they are filling. I ate three (don't judge me!) for lunch and was fully satisfied. They were so good: not dry, no chalkiness. While they were dense, they still had a super spongy consistency. For the price, I don't think you will be disappointed.Cheap eats at its finest all the while supporting a small, family run local business!

This is a no frills tamale cart, so leave your BS about plating and utensils at home. Come to eat the best moist tamales, have Carlos speedily hook you up, enjoy stuffing your face, and then buy 12 more tamales for $15 to take home. Real bang for your buck. I really enjoyed the corn tamales, but I couldn't get a picture in because I was too busy eating them. They take cash, Venmo, zelle. No credit cards, but don't whine because the tamales are worth it.They're located on the south side of the Cardenas market, if you can't find them it's your loss.

Not like 5+ yrs ago the taste did change a bit and it seams like now they don’t add chicken. love the chapín tamales still same flavor. Oh and the Champurrado i can taste the water like most of these places seam to do this now. ??‍♀️

Can't go wrong with Doña lupe. Her chicken tamales are delicious and the champurrados too! Find her also at Davis St Walmart.
