Totally sucks for customer service. I mean totally beer turned out good. So the product is good. Customer service is the worst. Won't go back unless I'm desperate.

Such a cute spot and so close to a lot of good restaurants and bars! Not a lot of parking, but if you're coming here for a good time, I recommend just taking an Uber or Lyft. The decor inside is fun. Love the vibrant colors inside! Great spot to take Instagram pictures. I told my fiance that it reminded me of an ice cream store. Love the beer selection! They have a beer for almost every type of person. If you like IPAs, Stouts, etc, they have a beer for you. FYI, no food here, but it's ok, there's alaMar Kitchen and Bar and True Burger a block away. Modern Times House is such a cool spot to hang out with friends. Once quarantine life is over, I will definitely make a trip here with my fiance and cousins!

I love that have such a wide selection of beers, especially Hazy IPAs, my favorite! The interior decor is so colorful and fun, seems like it could brighten up just about anyone's day, of course paired with a great beer. Another plus is that it's pretty close to Drake's, so you could hit up Modern Times and then head over to Drake's after. Good vibes all around, can't wait to be back for more!

First off, I think modern times makes great beer, especially in the hazy IPA category. In fact, one of the best beers I've ever had was the MT5, which was a 5th anniversary modern times beer that I had at beer rev. That said, I can't help but be a little disappointed in this new modern times location in Oakland. A few of my gripes are a.) the decor in here in ABSOLUTELY horrendous! Who the hell would think dark pink and turquoise would be a good color combo?! Looks like barney himself was the interior designer. It's hideous inside, and the added random art on the walls in try-hard and tacky. I can remember the twisted garden house as an example. b.) I don't know the Chaps name, but the the portly bartender with the red hair and beard is just straight-up rude for no reason. I've come here probably 6 times, and out of that 4 times he's the one who helped me. He's impatient, seems frustrated when you ask for a recommendation, and overall is just a dick. I dont know if he's just going through some stuff in his personal life, but that's no excuse. He's the only bartender there that isn't extremely nice and helpful. In other words, this guy should get canned. c.) I know its difficult to find a location, but this spot would be twice as good if they had some outdoor space/seating, that's a big miss by them IMO. Overall, I like their beers, but everything else about this spot is meh at best.

Pretty dope spot, although the design choice is a bit too garish for me. The atmosphere is pretty chill, and MT has more than enough beer to choose from to appease most people's tastes. Most people go there for their hazy IPAs and stouts, but do NOT overlook their pilsners and lagers. They are excellently crafted. Feel free to skip on their fruited stuff though, just not quite as good as some other craft breweries out there. Hope this place does well and hangs around for awhile.

This is a spacious, bright, and ambient place to enjoy a beer or two. I love the bright decor here with mainly its pink and orange hues. It makes you feel warm and fuzzy (and I guess the beer has something to do with it). It's perfect for a few Instagram photos too! I had a Pharaoh Porter here and it was super tasty. Sat at the bar and the booth. The bartenders are great and I love that you can take canned beers to go.

Giancarlo was our bartender our first time to this awesome place and (get this) remembered us the next time we came in! I know, crazy right? This is in the heart of Oakland and we got some local love. This place has great choices and tons of love.

This is a new and fun spot for craft beer lovers to hang out in their natural habitat (where they have access to a lot of good craft beer)! They were busy at 4:30pm on a Saturday, but there was plenty of seating in this large tap room. There was an impressive 30 beers on tap, and they had a wide range of options for styles of beers, and also limited releases. On top of that, they also had 7 exclusive bottles for onsite consumption only. They offer 5, 8, or 16 oz pours for their draft beers, and there are even 2 non alcoholic drink options. The only con is that they don't sell food here, but there was a food truck out front and you can also bring in outside food. It was also SUPER LOUD in there, and I overhead the bartender saying that they were working on sound dampening/absorption so that should solve that issue. They have cans available for takeout, but it seemed they only sold 4 packs and not singles (unless you get the 500ml size). I will definitely be back to try more beers in the future. Parking can be tough since there isn't a lot of street parking available.

I am soooo ecstatic that Modern Times has arrived to the Bay Area! The first time I went to Modern Times was at the Mecca of craft beer: San Diego. I am such a fan of their beer for one. But I was really curious what their vibe would be here. The space is quite big which is a good thing. They have a huge list of different beers ranging from a pale ale to a barrel aged beer which can sometimes be a little overwhelming but at least there will be something for everyone. Their staff is knowledgeable and welcome questions or if you'd like to taste something before committing to the full glass. They also have a taco truck parked outside if people are hungry or would like a snack to accompany their beer. I didn't get to try the food outside because I was going to dinner later but I will next time (because there most definitely will be a next time).

I've been a fan of Modern Times for years now and visited the Brewery in San Diego. I love hazy IPA and they have some great ones. When I heard about the Oakland location, I picked up my sister for a couple after work beers. We sat at the bar and ordered up a couple beer samplers, trying out some of our favorite picks. They have a huge selection of beer on draft, so it makes sense to get the smaller pours and try more of them. Loved the little stemless glasses! This is a great location and given the close proximity to Drake's and other breweries, a great stop on a Oakland food tour. Cheers!

Great beer and sours! Pink modern theme inside. Definitely try some of their beers not in the grocery stores, those seem to be the best.

Ok New New Oakland, we see you!! Modern Times is definitely one of my favorite breweries so I am very, very excited that they opened a taproom in Oakland. I am a huge fan of all the Hazy IPA's they produce and they are generous with their different variations and different types of beer in general. They have a drink and a size for everyone, offering a taster (5oz), a cup of beer, (8oz, haha that sounds weird to say) and a good ol' pint (16oz). The interior decoration is so much fun and adds to the experience. The vibrant walls mixed with different textures and colors definitely takes you elsewhere. Wallflowers, this place is for you. Your IG bouta be littttt. There are plenty of communal tables but it does get packed, in which case standing room is limited. My friends and I wished there was an outside seating area and also served some type of food, but reading the other reviews it looks like they have food trucks stop by. I love the little shop they have up front and Modern Times has amazing design artists. Their merchandise, beer can designs and taproom interior are all on point. Look out for some coaster souvenirs and stickers at the bar to save you a couple more dollars for another drink.
