I wasn't asked if i wanted anything for 20 minutes. I was asked to scoot down so 2 seats could be available at the other end. The pastrami melt had meat that was mostly fat. I wondered after the first half why it was difficult to eat. Drink was okay. Nothing great. Very dark vibe, meaning cult or hellish.

Kid-friendliness: Surprisingly kid friendly! We go when it’s less busy (opening around 5pm) and not on Fridays

This is my second time at this spot and both experiences were the same.

My friends and I normally go to a FORBIDDEN place on Alameda ISLAND but we like to try different places.

So for the second time we went to Kon tiki. My friend asked for a standard tiki drink and was told the bartender did not know how to make it. I asked for a jet pilot and the bartender also did not know how to make that.

I was told that the bartender only knew how to make the eight or nine drinks on the printed menu. My friends and I ordered half of the drinks on the menu.

We wanted fun, boozy, and cocktails but were given hot, sharp, back of the high school drink made from whatever the parents didn't pick up after a party.

One of my friends asked for a menu of the rums, the waiter tossed it to us and it fell to the ground. He said that he was out of half the rum and then left.

I got the distinct feeling that this place is actively trying to go out of business.

We paid our bill and tipped well.

Our xext stop was the dive bar on the corner. We order a shot of rum and a mix of juices and made our own drinks. And the bartender there was happy to have us.

Very cool tiki bar! The food options were a little limited, definitely simple pub style food, but if you're here it's absolutely for the drinks. Every drink we tried was absolutely fantastic! One of them even came with a custom book of matches, very old school. The drinks for more than one person come with really long straws. It definitely looks intimidating from the outside, but the vibe is top notch inside. If I found myself in Oakland again this would definitely be top of my list to visit again.

Arrived early for a dinner nearby. Decided to kill time at the bar. Low ABV cocktails are such a good idea at a tiki bar, bc sometimes they go overboard at other places. If you like red vermouth (and I do) I recommend the Sunrise on Risa ??. Friendly bartenders take the time to explain ingredients. Comfy seating. Just a chill and wholesome spot.

It's not really a tiki bar. The decor is like a home luau party via Amazon and Party City. The drinks are so so.
