The Punchdown Wine Bar + Bottle Shop

Very disappointed in this place. Went here with a group of 6 for the first time at around 4pm on a Friday.

Service was non existent (maybe that’s the structure?). You order everything at the bar area on your own . We sat ourselves etc. In any case, my colleague ordered a few snacks and etc. Those came out relatively quick. Then about 30 mins in, I ordered a 3-Meat Charcuterie board. I waited probably like 30 mins before I finally asked (had to go up to the counter again) and they were like “yeah our ticket system isn’t working right now but we’re getting it fixed” and it’s like why not communicate that??

The place was not busy, flies were everywhere (kept having to bat away the flies from the charcuterie, cannot imagine what their “kitchen” is like if the dining area had that many flies), and everything is overpriced. Not coming back.

Love this place! Wine and tinned fishes what more could you ask for. Their selection of tinned fish is vast and I love how many different types and flavors there are. They also had some nice non-tinnned fish, empanadas, burrata and spreads. The perfect accompaniments for wine! Everything came with so much warm bread. We probably ordered too much, but no regrets.

They are dog friendly and the service was great! I saw they do popups sometimes so I'll have to check those out. Can't wait to go back.

Really nice place, bartender was very generous. Love the natty wine here and the small bites were tasty and fresh.

Awesome concept, awful execution. Took way too long to get our food and drinks but what’s most disturbing is not hearing a word of apology for it when I inquired 20 minutes in. Too bad because other than service, it could be a great place. The best part was the house wines flight: all quite good.

Wines are amazing, but man the service is bad. The bartenders are not attentive, I went 4 weeks straight while waiting for my gf to finish her classes. These guys never offered me water, had to ask for it and whenever I sat on a table, and having the bar practically empty took forever to take my order and never came back to ask if everything was ok. And last time went with a friend and asked for suggestions, she interrupted me and never came back to answer. Never were friendly with me and I saw them being friendly with others. Was reading some reviews about people feeling racism, and I am hoping that was not the case. But yeah, the wines, the menu design and the concept are legit, but the bartenders are really a heavy downgrade. They need some serious hospitality training.

Natural wine without additives, friendly welcoming people, delicious food, reminds me of small Lisbon eateries, stays open late weekends but would love it if stayed open even later :)
