I was just over at the Food Mill looking for this and that..didn't find either one, but on my way out I glanced over at The Saint Sandwich Shop and remembered when Oscar Mendoza told me about the great sandwiches they put out, so I went over and got a chicken salad sandwich...it was so good, I got another! 5 stars for each one!

Sandwiches are pretty darned good, if a little spendy. The vibes are great and they have a parklet.

But as a person eating sandwiches for 50 years, please don't put sandwiches in a box where they slide around and fall apart. The toothpick doesn't do much to hold it together. This happens with every sandwich I buy there. Sorry I didn't think to take a photo this time, I wrapped both halves in parchment paper for a flight.

Please wrap the sandwiches in butcher paper. There's a reason this is standard. It keeps the sandwich together and the paper can be composted. The boxes they use are common food service takeout containers and they have a thin layer of plastic in them that makes them non-compostable. They can only be recycled. Which means you need to wash out the food, wait for them to dry before recycling.

Great sandwiches! The Saint (sandwich) is our favorite. Clean space. Great service. Only wish they had menu options for kids but LOVE THIS PLACE!

The sandwiches are huge. They are a five. The service was a bit surly, but the beastly portions made up for it.

Our favorite sandwiches in Oakland. I love the Saint. The sandwiches are large and have a tasty balance of flavors. The only downside is they are more of a lunch spot. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area.

We stopped here on our way to SF. It is a cute lil place definitely popular. We made our own veggie sandwich and it was delicious. I do wish they had more seating out front. But you have to go and check it out!

Great local sandwich shop, everything they have is great, but their focatua sandwiches are amazing! So glad they exist, a perfect walking lunch spot!

It took me too weeks to review this place because I just stopped being in awe about their sandwiches.Today I was around there (I live about an hour away) and I got in to take a sandwich to go. At first I thought to get the salad version of “the beast” but then I remembered that they serve that with an amazing ACME bakery focaccia. I kid you not that focaccia is a genuine Italian Focaccia Genovese (I grew up around there), and The Saint fills it with ingredients to match it. Great roast beef, perfect set of greens and light on sauce, just perfect. My only issue is that I cannot eat only half and I stuff myself with it every time. And if I lived closer I’d probably gain three pounds a month.

The business model's focus is Take-Out. Though there is seating (tightly spaced and uncomfortable) don't plan to sit down and enjoy your sandwich. No welcoming service here. The furnishings, vibe, and service communicates "get your sandwich and leave". Went twice to check it out. Same experience both times.
