Great place to hang out with friends. Cute little quint tearoom where you can enjoy small bites and sweets. Lots of tea selections to choose from and I especially loved the rose tea. You can even pay extra to have the cotton candy paired with your tea. The owner was very friendly and even offered us complimentary ice cream. We were there for a few hours and they didn't rush us all at and we appreciate their service. The only complaint I have is the parking situation which they can't control. Arrive early to prepare for parking.

Cute place in the heart of busy Berkeley neighborhood! Great customer service with delicious treats that fill you up! Excellent selection of teas! Fun serving set - cotton candy sweetener and ferry's wheel of sweets after high tea :) cozy and small perfect for a nice quiet afternoon to catch up with a dear special friend! Parking is only trickery but that's the norm these days!

As others have mentioned, the Tearoom is unlike any other afternoon tea spot I've visited in terms of ambiance. The decor is a little tired (verging on dreary) and neither upscale nor feminine like many other tea rooms. On the plus side, it was fun to sniff the tea options before making our selection and the scones were yummy. The sandwiches were good, but the confections seemed like they came from the Costco frozen food aisle. Our server seemed sweet, albeit forgetful and slow. Thankfully, I was there for a reunion with old friends so we didn't mind the glacial pace, strange space, or mixed bag in terms of food quality.

I absolutely adore afternoon tea and it's the first time I've had a chance to visit this place! The place is super charming and great for a group of ladies who want to get together. My husband and I brought our baby and we had a great time. We brought our huge stroller and they were accommodating for sure!

We didn't really do our research very well before visiting so it wasn't exactly what we were expecting - cute but just like previous remarks: decor is drab! When we were looking for a 'tea-party' style cafe, we saw a few photos on the website and thought it would be a creatively styled lounge but it really is very plain and kitschy aka cheap looking. The vegan menu was sub par (I felt bad that we were charged such an insanely high amount for curry tofu on top of bread and a half of a pbj you could make for a toddler). The bday girl had to order it because that was the only thing on the menu. There aren't any gluten free options and you aren't able to use cute tea plates or cups. The elevator music was a cute touch, felt like I was chillin' with the Golden Girls or something. Not worth the $$ but overall we had a lovely time and the focus was on spending time with each other so can't beat that. NOTE: Not Vegan Friendly! No one wants TOFU EVERYTHING. Real veggie sammies please.

The tea and tuna sandwich is bomb, but everything else is so-so. There's not much decoration and presentation in the cafe. It felt very crowded inside, and pretty small table and seating space. Might come try again if there's environment improvement later on.

We hosted a baby shower here and everything was really tasty, organized and fun. Everyone was really easy to work with and put care into their service!

The TeaRoom is in an upscale hood on College Ave. Street parking is the way to go and there is also a nearby parking garage. It is a pretty small dining room. My bridal shower group made a reservation six weeks prior for about 20 ladies. We had 20 min to set up favors and decor that we brought. They have some pink party decor already on the walls. The blue walls and tea cups are not as frilly as English tearooms. Not sure if this place is trying to have their own flair. The establishment was ready for our group and were available to meet our needs. Our reservation was for a two hour time slot. When the guests arrived, a plate of tea boxes were passed around for taking a whiff. You can select your tea and have your own tea pot. I enjoyed the peach ginger tea. You can also request cotton candy to dip into your tea. That was pretty cute. The tray of food is ready for two guests to share. The tea sandwiches were basic. The cranberry scone was soft with lemon curd and butter. There are four petite desserts: they were colorful and rich in flavor. Honestly, I was so full from the tea and sandwiches that I took home the desserts and half my scone. The food looks about the same as a high tea experience, but it feels different without actual petite fores and English bone china cups and plates. College Ave is a nice experience and The TeaRoom is worth trying out if you are a tearoom buff. I wouldn't say this is my favorite high tea room, but it is an enjoyable spot to share time with others.

I had my baby shower in the tearoom and I had an amazing time. They offer variety tea options. All the food they provided taste great. The service was supper nice and people are very friendly. I highly recommend this place for any events. It feels super relaxing. The design of the room is very cozy and sweet. I would like to go back just for relaxation.

Had a large party here and the staff was wonderful. The entire process was very easy and smooth, I have friends who are vegan and vegetarian and they accommodated their diets very well. Their rates for having a private party using the entire shop are really reasonable as well. Will be coming back if I'm in the area!

I took my girlfriend here as a Christmas gift. We got entire tea. We loved smelling the teas and choosing from the vast selection. The sandwiches were delicious. Almost half the meal was dessert which we loved. The scones were moist and there was a large selection of mini-desserts which varied from awesome to just good. Great local business! I would definitely go again.

Bad and fake. This is an amateur attempt at high tea. It's disingenuous and poor all around. Use mascarpone not Devon cream, this is unethical and probably illegal. Tea is not good quality and they don't serve it at right temperature for kind of tea nor do they serve in the right pot. Sweets are obviously from Costco or Safeway and not made in-house, heck they don't even have an oven to do it in. Scones are decent and so was salad. Decor is disgusting. Bathroom has graffiti and is downright nasty, carpeting is from a 1-star motel and they completely miss what high tea is supposed to be. They have the gall to put a sign for the Empress at the front, comical really as an attempt. Not silly cheap either. $75 for 2.

I went here as part of a private party. We had a wonderful time; the food was great and more filling than I expected. The teas were lovely and our server was very attentive despite how large the party was.

Service was nice, so that's why 3 stars. The curry chicken Sammie was good and the tea was hot and fresh...that's where the positives end. Ham and Brie Sammie was ok. The ambiance is just not there - yellow and blue room with pink, paper party favors. Old, dirty bathroom.... The cream served with the scone had a funky, bitter taste. Maybe they whip oil into it, but I've had the best of the best - Kensington Palace, London and this just wasn't right. In fact, there was a strange acrid aftertaste to a lot of the food, which I can only assume is cheap oil used in their baked goods. Everything was fresh, but the quality was just not there. I go to tea with my neighbors quarterly. We won't be back.
