From my first conversation with Margaret, she took a keen interest in the person whose life we were celebrating while also getting that we might not know exactly how many people would show up. She helped me think about having the food be a variety of offerings on several table that would enable people to taste wonderful and varied dishes (and work with our approximate number of attendees). She also listened with patience and love as I described the food my mom loved and our desire to offer those types of things.Throughout the process as I came up with new ideas or made requests (and got a little nervous about everything working out well), she remained kind and patient and highly responsive.The reception was amazing! People loved the food and its beautiful presentation. Everything was devoured, and I believe we had enough food. Her team's service was fantastic and attentive, and everything unfolded wonderfully well. We ended the day filled with the sense we had paid a fitting tribute to our beloved mom, and the reception we were re-connected and with so many people we have known for 50+ years and where we offered toasts and informal sharing about our mom was incredible (undoubtedly enhanced by the delicious food and wine served).As well, Margaret recommended the florist we used, and the flowers were exceptional, both in the hall where we had the memorial and on the food tables and the bar.We will always be grateful to Margaret and her team for the love and care they brought to this event, a celebration of life, which was hugely important to us and my mom's Berkeley community.

I've worked alongside Margaret at a drag party in the Castro for a client we share. I usually stay away from catered food because of all the oils it leaves on my camera. However, Margaret's diverse, worldly dishes enticed and eventually won me over. Her food is delicious.

Hiring Margaret to cater our wedding was the biggest mistake of our entire event. She showed up late and left early despite our wedding coordinator asking her to stay and finish the job. She recommended an entirely insufficient amount of appetizers, which were gone just minutes into our cocktail hour despite being served cold. Our coordinator had to scramble to create other food options to get us through until dinner. Dinner itself was nowhere near as good as the tasting she prepared for us before we hired her. Our coordinator who is typically very sweet and positive reported that Margaret was terrible to work with and that there were numerous problems even getting through the event with her. Furthermore, leading up to the event she was very difficult to communicate with. Had we not already locked ourselves into a contract with a deposit we would have gone elsewhere at this point. She missed a planning zoom call with no notice, and afterward informed us that she had been taking a nap (at 6pm!) and offered no apology for wasting our time. She changed the price of our appetizers without telling us or updating prices on her website--we found out when the final contract came through with all new prices. She continually tried to up-sell us on more expensive food even though we were clear about what we were looking for. We had to continually contact her asking for follow up materials like a menu and contract after calls with her. She is disorganized, dishonest, and all around very unprofessional. Finally, she overcharged us for labor and has thus far refused to issue a refund. Look elsewhere, on no level is Margaret worth the expense or hassle of working with.
