This place is my favorite Ethiopian spot in town. Before I was traveling I was living near here and would eat here every single day for lunch while I worked. I got to know the owners. They are excellent people and should get all the community support the can for their business that they are now renovatingBest all tef injera and best kifto that I've had in the Bay

Tigrai Cafe in Oakland is a true gem offering phenomenal Ethiopian cuisine, outstanding service, and an immersive atmosphere. The friendly staff warmly welcomed us and guided us through the menu. We savored the flavorful vegetarian sampler and doro wat, which were perfectly balanced and delightful. The service was attentive and genuine, ensuring a memorable dining experience. The cozy, exotic interior, adorned with Ethiopian art and textiles, created a captivating ambience. Tigrai Cafe is a must-visit for anyone in Oakland seeking an exceptional dining experience. I'm excited to return and explore more of their delicious menu.

Came here on a Saturday around6pm, restaurant was very empty....food was decent but customer service was terrible. Despite being one of the few customers around, it was hard to flag down someone when trying to get/pay the bill.

My friend and I had a fabulous dinner at Tigrai Cafe last night! We had a couple of appetizers and shared the veggie platter. YUM. The food was delicious and plentiful. And the family who runs it is so welcoming and friendly. They made us feel like guests in their home. It was a wonderful meal and an even more wonderful experience. We'll be back!

I was coming in after the gym hoping for a healthy delicious meal. For the Yelp hype this place has I was surprised to see few people at 1 pm on a Saturday. I had the lentil Sambusa and the beef tibs! The sambusa was yummy I enjoyed it. The tibs was spicy as I ordered, I got a good run even though I had eaten spicier things elsewhere. It was an enjoyable spicy , doesn't ruin the meat and doesn't make you run for milk. Definitely recommend

I came here on a rainy day with my friends, as we were craving Ethiopian food. We ordered the veggie combo, beef tibs, and beef kwanta firfir. They were delicious! I had never tried beef tibs or beef kwanta firfir before but Tigrai Cafe made an amazing first impression of those two dishes. The service and hospitality of the restaurant staff made us feel welcome in spite of the rainy weather. They provided us with an abundant amount of delicious injera that we enjoyed with our dishes. Thank you Tigrai Cafe!

I was specifically looking for an Ethiopian restaurant that gave a lot of food at a good price, and this place was it!! We got the veggie combo, beef tibs, and beef kwanta firfir and it was all really yummy. Definitely give this place a try, especially because of the value and I think it's a new restaurant!

It's my first try, the service was fast. I ordered tomato fitfit, I can't tell the taste of the food because of too much salt and parsly.

Easily walked here from 12th street Bart on a Sunday at 11 amThe beef samosas served with a garlic hummus were fantasticThe combo veggie platter was great The fish tibs were deliciousThe only negative thing, was we kept having to ask for service, to get drinks, order food. to get check, etcWe were the only ones in the restaurant. I guess they didn't want to disturb us.

I came here the other night as I was craving some injera and was sat down right away. I ordered Telba (flax seed drink with honey) for the first time and was so tempted to order another one--the flavor was subtle, but nutty and complimented my food incredibly well. I ordered the lamb tibs with a side of spicy red lentils, safe to say my plate was nearly empty when I finished. I ended the night with some crispy baklava which couldn't have been more perfect to end the night. The service was incredibly fast & very hospitable, I can't wait to go back.

Food and service was awesome! My youngest son was in Ethiopia for over a year and he was impressed! Very authentic! Highly recommend that you order the Bunha!
