I’ve eaten at the Oakland Vino Volo for years and thoroughly enjoyed both the food & wine. Not sure if there’s been a change in ownership or what but the Arugula Salad with “chicken” was frankly inedible. The chicken was processed bits o’ chicken, the dressing was overpowering and there was something brown (not arugula) in the greens. I am not sure if the greens were even washed before being doused in the citrus dressing. The menu was a bit different which makes me think that there’s been some sort of change, but not for the better.

We stop at this place before our flight to Salt Lake City - Amsterdam-Hanover. Nice place ! We never see an formidable and friendly waitress like this little woman. Very sympatetic, nice smile. There is not only wines, but also some special beers. Very happy of this place.
A glass of bubbles at Vino Volo is one of my traveling traditions! They always have lovely wine selections and they also offer beer. I like getting a wine flight, sitting at the bar, and enjoying the ambience in this familiar oasis. They hire great staff, too!

Truthfully, I went to the Oakland airport early ( I flew into sfo and could have stayed there to eat, but I like being extra early for my flights) not expecting much in the way of food. I ended up at vino volo and had such a lovely time! Above my expectations. Warren greeted me so promptly and warmly I immediately knew I’d made the right choice. The food was lovely and the service superb. I got the Butcher board (heaping with items. Not the tiny portions I was expecting at an airport eatery ) the Ham and Gruyère sandwich (which Iyana made superbly *chefs kiss* ) and then (since I was still having some bubbles and craving salty things) a little side of prosciutto and crackers (which wasn’t little at all all!) so impressed. Also - and I’m sure I’m not the only one who loves this- but they actually practiced great food safety! As some one in the the service industry it hard for me to watch when someone puts gloves on, then touches everything, then your food, missing the point entirely, that is not the case here! I was so happy not to stress about that at all! Hands were washed gloves were used, then discarded. It was awesome. Well done! 100% would go back cause of Iyana and Warren!

I temped to get to OAK extra early just in hopes of hanging out with these folks! The Quilt cab is delish!! (Also picked out by Jonah after telling him my taste profile). Amazing wine and cured meats!
