Best shrimp & grits I’ve ever had + the staff were so kind. Great brunch spot.Note: The entre would be larger, I wasn’t too hungry so I just got shrimp & grits sides as sides.

The food was incredible, and the space is gorgeous and has a variety of seating types/areas. One star off atmosphere because the music was a little loud for our tastes.

Absolutely beautiful cafe! Delicious breakfast and coffee. We took ours to go to enjoy the park across the street, but this cafe is so charming, we’ll come back and eat in next time. A little pricey for breakfast but well worth it.

great food. great service. beautiful place to sit and eat and enjoy a coffee. Coffee is very good. Highly recommend. Grab a coffee or a bite to eat and enjoy a walk at Brooklyn Basin by the water.

Super over-priced for what you get. The turkey is from a pressed roll. Asked for chips and one would think I would get plain chips, but no, I got Maui onion. The ciabatta roll was good. Safeway makes better sandwiches.

Checked out this new spot in a newly developed housing area in Oakland and was definitely left conflicted. I would give the service here 2/5 as the cashier seemed very confused while we tried to order which was fine but she didn't seem like she wanted to be there. I would give the food and coffee a 5/5. I had gotten the breakfast sandwich with white cheddar and a side of fruit. The bread was sourdough and very fresh. The flavors in the sandwich itself were great and the fruit was so sweet and fresh. I also got an oatmilk latte and it was on the better side of the lattes I've had. The meals beee are definitely a bit on the pricer side for the quantity of food you get. The space itself is massive with plenty of seating. You are able to order at the counter before picking your own seating. I would definitely come back for this sandwich but do hope the service gets better.

I’m so glad they opened a spot in Oakland. I’ve gone to their original location in San Leandro a few times and always loved the vibe. The food and drinks were delicious. The have plenty of seats and their across the street from the water. I’m so glad they’re here.

After nearly 3 trips to Oakland for work, I can safely say i'm a fan! It's a 3 min walk from Homewood Suites & about 15 from Exec Inn so if you're in town and looking for good coffee, this is your place. The baristas have been friendly each visit. On my most recent trip they had fewer to go can drinks but it wasn't too much of a bummer.

Food, service and ambiance is superb and naturally relaxing without trying to hard. I'll be back for sure. Zach L. is the general manager and a really great human being. We need more Zocalo Coffeehouses and Zachs around the bay

Breakfast biscuit with bacon and avocado ? When the owner doesn’t work there herself she has a good staff in place. Ignore the trolls who clearly don’t know what they’re talking about.

1 year in, and I'm confident this is the greatest daytime work/study spot in all of the East Bay. You want to be here on a rainy day.Just a 15min walk or 7min scooter ride from Laney College, Zocalo in Brooklyn Basin is aesthetic, spacious, and delicious. My wife and I wanted to get some work done one afternoon, and we popped in to get creme brulee lattes (iced is the way to go) and a BLT.Weekend brunch here is absolutely underrated - chefs do a fantastic job. I've tried a couple different things (including weekday lunch) and while food costs a more on par with a restaurant than a cafe - the generous slices of bread, and the perfectly fried potatoes put this place over the top of many other go-to spots in Oakland. Paired with weekend mimosas and board games to rent - this place is an absolute vibe.Check their hours! If they were open later - I think this spot could be an excellent evening study cafe/bar (like Mother Tongue on broadway, or Social Study / The Interval in SF). It's added to our list and we'll cozy up here again whenever we need a relaxing cafe date. Thank you Sara & the Zocalo team for bringing beautiful cafe space to Oakland.
