This is a fantastic restaurant. The food is sooooo delicious, the service is second to none. You will not have a better pepperoni pizza anywhere else. Just the best all around. We come for a theatre camp every year and make a point of eating here. Love love this place! ❤️

My husband and I absolutely love Hazel’s! It’s a cozy, family-owned restaurant with delicious food and warm service. The prices are very reasonable for the quality, with entrées typically ranging from $30–$50.
We always start with the Brussels sprouts—they’re our must-have favorite. This time, I ordered the halibut while my husband chose the ribeye, and both dishes were outstanding. The halibut was perfectly seasoned, and the fresh tomatoes that came with it burst with flavor in every bite. I usually go for the half chicken (which is also fantastic), but I’m so glad I tried the halibut this time.
One detail I really appreciated was the owner coming by to check in—it made the experience feel even more personal. Reservations are highly recommended. We were seated right away when we arrived about 5 minutes before our 6pm reservation time.
Hazel’s has a smaller menu that’s part of the charm—every option feels carefully crafted, so you don’t get decision fatigue. Hazel’s sundae was also a great dessert treat after a delicious meal. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience.

Two big things about this place:
1. The food, service, and ambiance are incredible. We had dined at Dawn Ranch the night before and Hazel was even better. The pizza, the pot roast, the wine, the dessert, it was all incredible.
2. We had trouble finding an uber to pick us up late night to go back to Guerneville. The owner or manager and all the staff checked on us constantly to make sure we had a ride, and the owner or manager said she would drive us to Guerneville so we wouldn't be stranded. AMAZING. We ended up getting a Lyft but we will never forget the kindness of this place.

Have been coming here for many years since they opened. Cozy ambiance with wood fired oven, super friendly and mostly attentive service and absolutely delish food! My favorite is the chicken with mashed potatoes —so flavorful, tender, juicy and generous portion. My hubby loves the mushroom pizza. Friday pies slightly too sweet for our taste, but a lot of others like them. Highly recommend reservations!
Indoor and outdoor seating (bring layers in case the fog rolls in).
Very small parking lot but lots of street and lot parking nearby.

We went with another couple. It was a mixed experience. The food was really good. We had Caesar salads and three different pizzas. They all rated high for the four of us. The problem came with the service. Our Caesar salad came right away. 50 minutes later, we had still not gotten our pizzas so we had to go up to the counter and ask what happened to them. They said they would be coming soon. It took another 20 minutes to get our pizza. I know they were busy, but an apology, and a little appetizer to appease our hunger would’ve made a big difference on how we felt. I had to ordered a second glass of wine, which I canceled because it had not arrived by the end of my dinner. They did bring me a chocolate chip cookie for their mistake with the wine, but by this time, the experience was tainted.
If you are a foodie, this restaurant is a must. It is a cozy spot with warm welcoming owners. We shared the heirloom tomato salad and the Blue cheese pizza, both were fantastic. We usually don't order dessert but, we were tempted by the apple and blackberry cobbler with homemade vanilla ice cream. It has been 2 days and I am still thinking about this meal.

Out of the 3 dishes we ordered (ribeye, chicken and beef pot) all of them were damped with juice. I asked for medium rare, got well done. The price (over $45 for some meat) wasn't justified at all.

Really enjoyed our dinner at Hazel. We were promptly greeted and seated. Ribeye and blue cheese mushroom pizza were great, save room for the peach cobbler.

Hazel in Occidental is the kind of place that lingers in your memory long after the meal is over. We had dinner on their cozy outdoor patio, which was the perfect setting for a relaxed evening with our golden retriever (who was treated like a VIP, complete with a special treat from the owner!).
From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome, friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the menu. With so many tempting options, their thoughtful recommendations helped guide us toward an incredible meal. We started with fresh sourdough and local olive oil (simple perfection), then shared the mushroom pizza and comforting roasted chicken with potatoes, each bite full of flavor and clearly crafted with care. The standout finale was the cheesecake pie topped with local sour cherries, tangy, creamy, and unforgettable.
This is the kind of restaurant that reminds you why dining out can be such a joy: high-quality ingredients, heartfelt hospitality, and a setting that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something truly special. Hazel is absolutely worth the detour.

Went here for dinner and got in right before a rush -- this place is small but bursting with flavor. Ordered two different pizzas (mushroom + caramelized onion with blue cheese) and brussel sprouts for apps. Everything was delicious.
Would definitely go back again next time I visit Bodega Bay area. Also several options for vegans.
Once again another superb meal from a simply brilliant chef. If I ate this well in a bistro in France i wouldn't have any complaints. The staff are friendly, helpful, and this is a brilliant, classic local restaurant.
