We happened to be at the proper intersection right next to Anita's Mexican Restaurant Cantina at 2250 South El Camino Real in Oceanside... and we were hungry so I said to my husband, "Let's try THIS Anita's!" We turned in and entered a most pleasing environment! It had a happy feel to it and an even happier feel when the sweet waitress came to the table. Her name is "Paty C" or at least that's what our receipt said. We started with the chicken tortilla soup. It was the BEST soup ever! Soon, we will be stopping by just for a carton of to-go soup. We then had the Cabo Combo seafood plate. It was also delicious!! The restaurant's environment feels relaxed and pleasant. I'm sure that added to the enjoyment of our meal. A few weeks ago, we ate at Garcia's on State Street in Carlsbad where the food was for all intents and purposes, barely edible, just plates of reheated food that was covered in cheese and sauce and you couldn't tell what was under it; compared to Anita's, I would give Garcia's a one star.

Worst restaurant experience in my life, had me in tears. Went here with my 2 year old daughter and her dad with intentions of having a nice meal and a drink. That hope was doomed from the minute we sat down. First, I asked the server to bring apple juice for my daughter, she snapped at me and said "we don't have apple juice!" I said ok what do you have- she replied "lemonade" and I agreed. I brushed it off to keep my vibes high. The table next to us had a cute little boy around my daughter's age, and these two started talking to each other and playing. I noticed my toddler was getting a little rowdy (she's TWO and it's normal!). Her dad and I were trying to get her seated and keep her quiet because we are extremely diligent parents who are considerate of those around us. We weren't even there 5 minutes when an older lady at the next table yelled (and I'm not exaggerating) "SHUT THAT KID UP." In that moment I fully entered mama bear mode because I will not allow anyone to speak about my child that way. I was in the process of telling this lady to have some respect and in the midst of that, the rude server walked over to our table with the audacity to say "my manager said to please keep it down over here." Clearly this waitress is tone deaf and blind because I was already addressing the issue with the rude lady at the table next to me. At that point I was DONE. I asked for the manager on the way out to explain what happened. He said he was the owner and that yes he did ask us to be quiet, he was completely careless about the situation and made no effort to rectify it or attempt to salvage our experience. He didn't care. So I left. I was so upset I was in tears while I carried my daughter out, who was hungry and confused about what was happening. I would rather starve than ever step foot into that place again. I highly advise everyone to think twice before going there.

The food was very good but our server had the worst personality. Not very cordial and didn't seem to want to be there.

My husband and I visited here on a Friday night. I was expecting a potentially long wait but it was about 10 minutes before we were seated. That seems pretty quick to me! The restaurant is bigger than it looks from the outside. The decor is colorful and vibrant, we were seated in a comfy booth next to large windows facing the parking lot. The parking lot has a decent amount of parking spaces which you can access from el Camino real. I had the taco platter with Al pastor, chicken and carnitas. All were tasty, my favorite was the Al pastor and their green salsa. The bring you chips and salsa for the table when you are seated. I recommend the tamarindo margarita! It was huge and so tasty :) My husband had the combo plate that came with bean tostada, beef burrito and cheese enchilada. They were all very good! Tender meet in the burrito and the enchilada sauce was flavorful. The beans and rice which also came with my platter were again so good! I'm very surprised with the low ratings of this restaurant. We took off one star for drinks not being refilled but overall an amazing experience. Can't wait to go again!

Came in tonight for margs and Vicente gave the most amazing experience! He was super personable and accommodating. I've been here a few times but never had a service like I did tonight. We didn't have food tonight but I've been here in the past and everything is made fresh daily and one of the few places that isn't trying to cut corners on their menu or their service. This Anita's has been a staple in Oceanside for years and I'm glad to see it still thriving as there was a decent crowd tonight with nothing but good vibes. Thank you Vicente and the rest of the Anita's team!

I've eaten here about 8 times the last couple years. The food is pretty good, the margaritas are good too. Last week I was in with my family, we put are name in and the girl said it would be 30-45 minutes. We ordered drinks from the bar and we waited to be seated. Usually they are pretty good and you get seated a bit earlier. This time we had waited 1:15 minutes and we had checked back a few times and told we would be next. But another group walking in got seated right away. I hate writing a bad reviews but this hostess is costing you a customer! Maybe a least being honest about seat time or offer a follow up on timeline etc. instead she was very stand offish. Something is just a little fishy with that hostess and her ability to make people feel welcome and at least respected as a customer ? ?

Went here today with my family and had THE WORST dining experience of my life. We have a 7 month old who uses a high chair and after we were seated in a booth a server at the next table KICKED my child's high chair. An accident? Probably. But there was no apology, and he kicked her so hard she almost fell and was hysterical for a good 5 to 10 minutes. We moved to a table to try to avoid our child getting injured further and then were told not 2 minutes later to move by the hostess as she was walking another party over. You would *think* they would want to be accommodating given the circumstances but no one seemed to care. Not a manager in sight. We will never be returning and I caution you not to support this disgusting establishment. Worst staff I have ever encountered.
