I give it 5 stars because I guess it depends on what people prefer, it's very quiet it has good service and the food is well served.

Excellence! From the moment we entered until we left. The service was great and very friendly. The food was plentiful and excellent. Everything was so good and lots of leftovers to enjoy later.

I really wanted to like this place, but our experience was disappointing. The happy hour prices seemed decent at first, but we were served only nine mussels for $9.50, and two of them were completely closed, which is a clear sign they weren’t fresh. I managed to crack one of those closed mussels open, and it smelled rotten. The pasta was decent though, and the portions were generous

Blade is one of our very favorite restaurants! The food and the service are exceptional always. This particular visit was special as we had dinner with friends we haven't seen for quite a while because they moved to the Midwest for great jobs. We used to meet at Blade on a regular basis when they lived in So Cal. The ceilings are high so it can be louder than normal when crowded. But we had no problem with active conversation and we had a great time. An added caveat is that the entire staff and owners are very friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and enjoying.
Fantastic service and quality food too!

We’ve been to Blaze 1936 and always enjoyed our food and we’ve had good service, unfortunately last night we had service so bad we were still discussing it today. We were a large party and when we called for a reservation the girl on the phone was nice and got us right in. The table service was where the problems began. The waiter stood at one end of the table while we yelled our drink orders over the live entertainment. The kids ordered pizzas and they didn’t come out of the kitchen until all of the adults had finished their meals, we weren’t offered oil and bread or drink refills. The waiter never came back to check on us. The kids finally got their pizzas and after they finished we sat there for at least 10 minutes trying to catch the waiters eye and get his attention to give us the bill. Finally we went up to the bar to ask for our check. I assume our waiter was doing double duty as the bar tender but he was totally ignoring our table.

Friendly staff, quick service. Food was delicious and hot when serviced. Only drawback was parking.
Second pizza I had tonight. Vast improvement over a place down the street.

Food was disappointing we had a soggy pizza that at the same time was burnt on the top ?? How is that possible?? We also had a Cioppino that lacked garlic + chilli and seasoning and also had chewy fish and was served with cold toast that was made from stale bread
Service was under par and some of the servers quit while we were there
Layout of restaurant is weird not sure if it is a pizza pick up place a sports bar or a restaurant
Bottom line I would not rush back

Great! The food was wonderful and the service was perfect. They have the best gluten free pizza on the planet!

We arrived for the first time to this restaurant interested in the building and its historical background but to our surprise, we found one of the best Italian restaurant in the area. Delicious Italian food with a relax atmosphere, even though we didn’t have reservations, we were able to be accommodated in the bar area, which had a very friendly and amicable vibe. The service was above and beyond of what expected, with a great selection of drinks and cocktails. Definitely our new spot in Oceanside.

Had a lovely Sangria, fried ravioli, truffle fries and the Sud Italia. All food was great. Service was prompt, quickly cleared items as we finished. A couple of TV's but sound was doen so you could carry on a conversation.
You don't often get service that is as good as the meal. Both were great. And they serve a pretty awesome house red (tasty and never too warm like most reds by the glass). The owner came by the table to check in at the end - could have been clumsy or awkward - but it wasn't - it was a nice touch to a solid meal with friends
It was with my book club and a little too noisy.
