Great coffee beans! We've been looking for a source for "bird friendly" shade-grown organic coffee. We were pleasantly surprised to find a direct importer and roaster of tasty beans that fit the bill. Just one hint: don't show up unannounced. The hours on Yelp show them open only one morning a week, and their own web site suggests you call ahead to request a tasting or cupping session. I missed that part and found a locked door. At home, though, their beans make some really tasty coffee in our automated espresso machine. To get the best balance, I first coarsened the grind but ultimately reduced the brewing temp a bit. Definite notes of cocoa and dark chocolate. We buy online. Beans are shipped UPS with tracking. Online ordering from their web site may be the easiest way to find out what Coatl has to offer.

It was good coffee, but could have had a little less ice and they only had one size when I went. I tried going back today at 8:30am and it was closed and didn't have hours of operation posted at their business or online. If I go again, I will update my review.

Gosh. #1 this place has incredible coffee. Sure, it's local (roasted & owned in Oceanside!) but it's also Organic. More importantly it's bird friendly. What on earth does that mean? Think back to the days before Starbucks. I can't because I'm a 90's kid, but as the owner tells me in Mexico and South America it used to be that coffee was grown by local farmers in smaller batches. Nowadays though, there's so much demand for coffee by large chains that quality falls to the wayside. They'll go to these remote villages and offer to buy ludicrous amounts of coffee, no care in the world for quality. In response, the farmers clear cut land and grown a plethora of the same beans to meet targets. The coffee then gets roasted, near burned & processed to compensate for the lack of quality - because consistency is demanded. Why do you think the coffee in every chain coffee shop tastes the same all around the world? Back to birds. It's this clear cutting of land to make way for massive coffee production that harms unique species of birds. They simply do not and cannot live anywhere else in the world. Want to learn more? Google "bird friendly coffee."This "bird friendly" certification, guided & sponsored by the Smithsonian Institute (yes those people with the cool museums!) makes Coatl coffee a tier above the rest, including your regular organic coffee. It's owned by the nicest guy who I found out today started his business right before COVID and just got hammered in the process still to this day.No, I don't work for them but I think it's cool that someone cared enough to make a coffee so amazing for us in SoCal (and the US!) to enjoy. Hope it catches on

This location is only a coffee roaster and is not an actual coffee shop.

Drove out my way in the rain and they are closed. They might need to update their hours and availability.

We were sent beans as a gift and the coffee is delicious! Bright, with a bit of complexity, and we love the story and ethos behind this brand. We’ll buy round two of beans soon!

Really have been wanting to try this place. Unfortunately it was not open at the time. Yelp, Google, their instagram and website all say open at 7am Monday through Friday. It is currently a Thursday and 8:20am and is closed. Drove 25 minutes to finally try it on a day off during the week. Oh well. Maybe call them before you go

Great coffee place that roast their own beans on site! A great array of seasonal drinks, if you like your drinks sweet I would ask for extra sweetened. Strong blends of coffee, and they even have bags available for purchase. Their location is a bit hidden but their front entrance is in the parking lot not in the back as google maps takes you.

Recommend the cold brew if you go into the cafe. It packs a punch but is still super smooth!

Tucked away behind Deiberto's and Exxon, Coatl Coffee is both a coffee shop and a roastery! They offer a variety of made-to-order lattes, cold brews, and other espresso beverages. I enjoyed the Mazapan latte, which had small bits of peanut in it. Absolutely delicious! This shop also offers pastries and bags of coffee beans. The baristas are super nice and the whole cafe has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. This is a must-do if you're on this side of town and looking for a great cup of coffee.

Adorable!Cute and cozy little place inside a business district. Had myself a mazapan latte and a little cinnamon roll-type pastry they had. Both were full of flavor and certainly something I'd order again. I've seen em around farmers markets and decided to pay their location a visit. Give em a shot:) Always nice tk support small businesses.
