There are many Mexican restaurants around here but this is the best one that I have found. It's worth the drive to come to this place!

The breakfast burrito had FLAVOR (& were huge). Carne asada burrito was tasty. Cafe de olla didn’t need cream or sugar. The horchata was creamy & refreshing. Absolutely perfect first meal in Oceanside.
The staff, a lovely woman, was super helpful & kind. Chatted for a few minutes and made us feel welcome.
We will definitely come back & recommend to friends.

Great first time experience,
Tried their daily special and Machaca plate, food tasted fresh and good service was nice salsa bar was ok salsas were little watery. Machaca plate came with massive flour tortilla that i loved. Will return

I had shrimp enchiladas. For $13.
They we nothing more than a few pieces of shrimp drowned in Enchilada sauce in the corn tortillas. Not much flavor other than that sauce. I was very disappointed. And I always order seafood enchiladas when they are on the menu.

The shrimp burrito at Diego‘s needs to be studied. The first time I had it, my mind was blown, and I was worried that it wouldn’t be the same when I went back again and it’s consistently been amazing. I’ve tried other spots for comparison and while they’re good, the Diego shrimp burrito is top-tier-my favorite.

This is the amount of meat I received for 5 tacos. I had to pay almost $20.00 and there was nothing but crispy fried tortilla. Such a rip off . Don’t waste your money

Diego's is always my first option for Mexican food around Coast Highway. I usually get their flautas since I go around lunchtime, but I've gotten their machaca for breakfast before and it was good.

Great for a late night stop. Keep it simple. Not cheap (for what it is) but it will hit the spot.

How hard is it to make a Rice, cheese burrito with extra cheese, add guac and add some beans? The first attempt was no rice (its a rice and cheese burrito). Now I have to drive back and the 2nd attempt is 3/4 qrts beans and 1/4 rice! Do better as its a rice & cheese burrito with just a little beans. This is not the 1st time and I only have myself to blame for going back. There are other places along Coast Hwy that can actually make it right!!!

We ordered delivery, so we have no comment on restaurant atmosphere.
But — the breakfast b8rritos we ordered were flipping fantastic! We will buy again.
I really want to try their crane asada burrito next.

Over the past 50 years, I have eaten at 100's of Mexican restaurants. It is disappointing that so many of them have lost the qualities that bring my taste buds joy. Their rice and beans all seem to come from the same cans. Their food doesn't satisfy. Not so with Diego's. They advertise that they are the best Mexican fast food. They are actually restaurant quality. Everything is so delicious. It harkens back to when a lot of Mexican diners were delicious. Even the red sauce has a nicely spicy and smokey flavor. One of the owners is the grandson of the founder of Alberto's. I will definitely be returning to this place very soon.
