Service and food was underwhelming. Definitely won’t be coming back and I would implore you to do the same. :( made me sad 👎

This restaurant fills up quickly. But if you get there right and open, you don’t even need reservations. The staff is very laid-back but the food is super sophisticated. Be sure to order one of their desserts. It was my favorite part of the visit.

Stopped by for takeaway last night, after a return from Bali. The Tofu Rendang was so flavorful! I love that they have a separate menu for vegans/vegetarians.

Wonderful experience. The food was 10 out of 10. My husband and I both really enjoyed the entire dining experience. I previously worked as a cook and grew up in a family where food was quite prized. I enjoy culinary experiences that are unique and something that I wouldn’t necessarily think of creating when at home. The meal we had at Dija Mara was outstanding; not only was the meal outstanding, but the service was excellent. Our every need was attended to. The beverage list was exactly to my liking, fabulous cocktails and a really great wine list. I enjoyed the grenache and the pet nat. My husband really enjoyed the beer and the server gave examples of what beverages might pair well with the food. We had the papaya salad which was superb, the spicy noodles, the short rib and coconut rice, the flatbread with veggie curry and lamb curry. Overall, we had an excellent meal, with fabulous ambience, attentive service, great guidance, and delicious food and beverages.

Service was decent even for a busy night and the place had great ambience. I was expecting a really delicious meal based on the reviews and the fact they were able to obtain a Michelin star. Do look up the portion sizes with the photos so you know what to expect.
However, we were disappointed overall with the taste and flavors of the meal that we just decided to leave half full.
1) Roti - this one was actually the best part of the meal because it tasted great, not as flakey as I’d like but still very delicious curry sauce dip. No complaints about this one.
2) Chicken Skewers - we received this half burnt. I thought maybe it came like this normally because the kitchen had no problem serving this as is. However, when we bit into it, we were basically eating charcoal. We didn’t want to make a fuss and send it back, but was surprised they would send this a table because it didn’t taste like chicken anymore. The glaze was also not good or special.
3) Nasi Goreng - this tasted ok, but was a bit on the blander side so it wasn’t worth the price.
We wanted to try their other dishes, but after what we experienced, we just wanted to leave to eat something better :(

Service from the moment we got there was awful. Running a few businesses myself I understand to hire friendly outgoing staff. The hostess barely greeted us and waved to a few tables and told us to sit at either. Our server started out strong but then she completely disappeared about 20 minutes in. We had ordered a few dishes that never showed up after an additional 20 minutes. We waived the only friendly person staffed(a young guy I didn’t catch his name) and he apologized and placed our order in again. We spent another hour and 20 minutes at our table with still no sign of our original server. We then only could assume she had gone home for the evening. We had to wave some of the staff down to place more drink orders. I’m not sure why but they seemed to be especially rude to our table. We were really looking forward to our first time here but the service really made the experience terrible.

The grilled eggplant was my favorite, it was crazy savory and had a generous blanket of crisped shallots.
The curry dip that came with the roti was so good, it had a nice kick to it- we wished the dish came with slightly more of that.
Vegetarian options: Some of the protein dishes were able to be made vegetarian.

We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant based on the excellent reviews, but unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing.
From the moment we arrived, the service felt unwelcoming. The hostess didn’t bother to walk us to our table—she just vaguely gestured toward two options and left us to figure it out. Our initial waitress was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and helpful—but midway through our meal, she disappeared and never came back. Along with her, half of our order was forgotten.
We had to flag down multiple staff members just to reorder what was missing and to get more drinks. The second round of servers we interacted with were dismissive and rude, making us feel like an inconvenience rather than valued guests.
As for the food, it was decent but not remarkable, and the portions were surprisingly small. The ceviche, grilled roti, and nasi goreng were delicious. Also the dessert.
Overall, we made the best of the night because of the great company, but the service was frustrating enough to overshadow the meal. For a place with such stellar reviews, I expected much better hospitality.
Update: my 2 friends who I dined with both got food poisoning :/

Oh my goodness - Best meal I have ever had. You HAVE to go here. Got the roti and curry and immediately wanted to order three more 😆, and the tofu rendang. Both were incomparable to any dish I have ever had - so creative, like nothing you’ve ever tasted. Perfectly seasoned, generous portions, perfect amount of spiciness that compliments the flavor just right. I’m in love!!!!! And every person we spoke to was so sweet, helpful and attentive. Also had the sesame ice cream - so far beyond normal ice cream. Amazing.
I was so full after eating all of that and still wanted more just because the flavors were so masterful. Mind blowlingly amazing experience. We’re still talking about it the next day. Has a vegan/vegetarian and gluten free menu.

Kid-friendliness: We saw a family there with several kids and they were treated very well.

Very good Asian fusion restaurant, we ordered flat bread, ceviche, tuna skewers, wok-fried noodles, and short ribs. Every thing was good except the tuna skewers were average. The place was so busy we had to wait for 20 min for a table even we had reservation.

Holy moly this food is amazing. Every single plate we tried was delicious and we all raved about every plate. The ceviche, to the eggplant, to the coconut fried chicken. The place is on the pricier side (compared to other regular restaurants in the area-- but this is no regular restaurant!) as the plates are tapas style and meant to be family style and shared but they are all quite small which left us wanting MORE! but for the quality and taste and top tier everything, I get it and will be back!

Dija Mara is a nice little place with kind of a hole-in-the-wall atmosphere but some really good, unique food. My only real criticism is that the menu was a little confusing. It was kind of hard to tell how big the portions were in each dish, and because of our own ignorance, we ended up ordering basically random things and didn't have clear appetizers and entrees, it was kind of like just being served random things of varying sizes.
All the food was good, service was great etc, I think you just have to know ahead of time which dishes will add up to a full meal. I'd recommend that they re-organize their menu a little.
