it feels a lot like a midwestern diner, but it's clearly californian because the pies use canned filling. i've been here a few times, different days and times, and the food tends to be a bit bland. still, that's not a bad thing. it definitely tastes like something my grandma would've cooked, so it's very nostalgic

Great service here, very personable owner/operator. Makes sure you are well taken care of. Highly recommend the scrambles.

THEY HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY RAISED PRICES, completely overpriced now for same bare minimum quality do not recommend they advertise one price then when it’s time to pay it’s about 40% higher

The place is dingy but that’s not always bad in a diner. My food was horrible and the drinks are way over priced. So I ordered huevos rancheros. The hash browns came out white. A tiny bit of beige on top but mostly still white. The eggs were way less than over easy. Basically only half cooked. Half the whites were still runny. The beans were canned and a dried out crust was on top. The ranchero sauce was basically Pace picante sauce; from a jar and clearly not homemade. The tortillas were stale and dried out on the edges. The coffee cost $5 and a milk was $6. I could have bought a gallon of milk for that and Starbucks for cheaper. They did remove my food from the bill so a breakfast burrito, oj, coffee, and milk was almost $40. The fact that the place is dingy and the menus sticky should have been a red flag that the food lacked heart. Homemade, lol not unless homemade means mad from a can.

I've gotten food here 5 different times in the last 2 weeks, and have ordered something different every time, and they've all been really good.
The breakfast burrito and lumberjack are definitely my favorites. Club sandwich is pretty good too

This is my favorite breakfast restaurant in Oceanside. It’s never too busy, the service is excellent, and the food is always delicious. The chicken fried steak is homemade and is the best in town. Grandma’s truly has a family atmosphere and they accommodate large groups if needed, have plentiful outdoor seating, and have a counter if you are flying solo. Love this place, keep up the good work!

My server was super friendly and my omlet was delicious. If you like spicy, try the homemade hot sauce, it's fantastic.

Stumbled upon Grandma’s Restaurant by chance, and boy am I glad I did! Our wait staff was so incredibly kind, and very enthusiastic about his job. He was a joy to talk to and took wonderful care of us. Then… THE FOOOOOOD. The onion rings are made as you order them, and come out piping hot. I ordered the Ortega chile burger, and it was everything I was craving. Super juicy, perfectly cooked, and so flavorful. My mom had the pancakes and couldn’t stop raving about them—which is high praise because she is really picky about pancakes. We would absolutely come back again, and highly recommend this place!

Food is delicious and they have good old grandma recipes. My husband was craving liver and onions and they have it there
Had breakfast here. That was so good. We had hash browns, omelette, scrambled eggs, gravy.. the food was so good and felt like home cooked. The service was great. They were super friendly and very accommodating. I enjoyed every bit of eating here. I will like to come again. It was a very nice experience.
Great place for breakfast or lunch. We were staying at residence in across the parking lot and ate there 3 times in 3 days.
Very close walk from the SoCal athletic grounds too
Great place for breakfast or lunch. I've been here a few times a month.
it feels a lot like a midwestern diner, but it's clearly californian because the pies use canned filling. i've been here a few times, different days and times, and there's always something kind of off about the food -- too bland or too sour or just an unusual texture. it's not awful, in fact it's pretty charming. definitely tastes like something MY grandma would've cooked, but she wasn't a chef, so manage your expectations.
