We love Vallie and the whole crew at Jitters. We are grateful for the plethora of vegan friendly options on the menu, and they have the best Chai Latte and Chai Tea I have ever had!!! This may be one of the oldest coffee shops in Oceanside with a well-known investor (Jason Mraz), but the management behavior tolerated here is shocking. I came in with a friend who had already purchased and was sitting down. When I was just settling in not ready to order food yet,I went up to order just a hot water from a gentleman at the cashier. An “elderly woman” popped (the same “elderly lady” mentioned in another review) she responded with sarcasm — “Only hot water?” (And at this point I felt awkward for even asking)….followed by a long, dismissive “okkkkk.” I smiled and playfully, “Hasn’t anyone just ordererd hot water before?” At any other coffee shop, that would have ended with a laugh or a polite explanation. Here, it turned into her accusing me of being a freeloader! — saying and I quote, she’s never seen someone “not pay for anything and use then use the free wifi.” To which I responded, I wasn’t even on their wifi, I had my own hotspot, but she still doubled down with, “Still.”
I would have gladly PAID for the hot water if that was the policy, but instead of explaining anything, she chose to insult a customer. For a business with history and reputation in this community, it’s unacceptable to let someone at the front counter speak to people this way. The lack of professionalism doesn’t reflect badly on patrons — it reflects badly on ownership for allowing this woman to continue to degrade customers and push away future business.

I’m really disappointed by the experience my friend and I had at this coffee shop. My friend politely asked for a cup of hot water — which she was fully prepared to pay for — and was shockingly berated by the owner. Instead of handling the request with kindness or professionalism, the owner accused her of essentially being a freeloader and using the WiFi for free.
This treatment was completely uncalled for. A paying customer (or potential paying customer) should never be made to feel humiliated or unwelcome, especially over something so minor. Coffee shops are meant to be warm, inviting spaces where community can gather, but sadly, this owner chose to treat people with hostility instead of hospitality. Based off these reviews, this is repeated behavior and based off her responses this is behavior that she justifies.
There are plenty of places nearby that serve great coffee and treat their customers with respect — I’d recommend supporting those businesses instead.

I was appalled by how she spoke to this woman who had ordered a cup of hot water/lemon yet offered to pay for a full price drink. Customer service was very lacking. Would not recommend or return after witnessing that exchange....

Heard about Jitters and love to support any small business that also has vegan options. I wish the menu/pastries were more clearly labeled as to what’s vegan or not. Avocado toast came with feta, not listed on menu, and had no idea if it was vegan or not. It was busy when we were there and already had to have it remade once (staff happily did as there was a mistake) but just not knowing was hard. And we asked and the donuts were vegan but not labeled. I will be back and hope the labeling improves so we can confidently order safely.

Staff was amazing from start to finish. I had the SF vanilla coffee ,easily one of the best I’ve had. Tried a vegan burrito for the first time and was honestly surprised by how good it was. Great vibes all around!

Yum! I ordered a vegan breakfast sandwich on focaccia bread and it was delicious! I was extra excited to see that they offered various vegan/ gluten-free pastries. I ordered a lemon strawberry mini cake and a chocolate mini cake. Super good! I ordered an iced tea, which is made to order with the type tea you like. I loved it! The staff was super friendly! I would go back for more!
