We just moved to North County and have been on the hunt for a good Mexican spot. My partner is from El Paso, so finding authentic Mexican food in Oceanside was one of our first priorities and Jorge’s Mexicatessen is it. The owners are SO friendly and welcoming, and it really feels like a staple in the community.

They’re known for their chicken soup, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. My partner is obsessed with the Huevos a la Mexicana plate, and I’m all about the crispy tacos, seriously some of the best in North County. It’s the kind of Oceanside Mexican restaurant that feels local, cozy, and consistently delicious.

If you’re looking for authentic Mexican breakfast in Oceanside, a go-to taco shop in North County, or great Mexican food near the beach, Jorge’s Mexicatessen is a must. We’re so happy we found our spot!

The soup is out of this world. I like the spicy chicken soup. The small is plenty. Do yourself a favor and order the large for leftovers! It's typical taco stand atmosphere.

Ordered the Menudo. But there was no menudo to be found. Tons of soup and no meat ? Not sure what was in there. Had to dispose the large order or soup. Disappointing.

I ordered menudo and fish tacos. I can count the flimsy pieces of menudo in this large order. Practically there was none and waited awhile for the Togo order. Literally. Nothing. It’s all soup ? Not sure what this is ?? It’s disappointing when you pay $30 for a meal and you get this.
Not coming back. I would not recommend this place unfortunately.

Very solid choice for red, shredded beef enchiladas. Very tasty red sauce, and excellent salsa to top them with. Rice and beans were very solid, too. Was my first time to visit, will definitely be back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
