Love boat is my go to sushi place. Always fresh. Always consistent!
We used to love coming to Love Boat Sushi when our family lived in Oceanside. It was always the go-to spot for birthdays because of the fun, lively atmosphere and unforgettable celebrations. Now that we’ve moved, we were so excited to return and celebrate three family birthdays here, hoping to relive those memories.
Before our visit, we even read the Google AI summary describing Love Boat’s famous birthday experience the lights dimming, staff singing and clapping, and music playing. That was exactly what we remembered and looked forward to.
Sadly, things have changed. We called ahead to make a reservation, but were told they no longer take them. We sat quickly with only two other tables. Service was slow, and after waiting over an hour and a half, and promising our guests the best birthday surprise, our “birthday dessert” was three small chocolate-dipped cookies with candles quietly placed on the table. No song, no lights, no celebration.
The sushi was good, but the magic that once made Love Boat a special place to celebrate is gone. I truly hope they bring it back.

Delicious sushi. The only draw back is the restaurant is too cold for my liking

Outstanding Family Experience at Love Boat Sushi!
Our family had an incredible experience at Love Boat Sushi! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome with their superior service and genuine hospitality. Everything ran smoothly, and the team went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable — even with our two kids in tow.
We ordered the Deluxe Combo for 3–4 people, and it was absolutely perfect for our family of four. The presentation was beautiful, the portions were generous, and every piece of sushi was fresh and delicious. We also added Chicken Katsu on the side, which our kids loved, and were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary edamame to start off our meal.
It’s rare to find a sushi spot that balances quality, value, and family-friendly service this well. We’ll definitely be back — Love Boat Sushi just earned a permanent spot on our family dining list!

Came here on a whim with my husband and toddler and it was great! Sushi was fresh and the $10 kids meal was huge. Total bill after tax and tip was only $45!! We got three house rolls, a kids chicken teriyaki meal and a hot green tea. We will definitely be back!

This used to be five stars all the way through food service atmosphere. However, the man who ran the show with professionalism has passed away tragically. When the prices were lower, I used to go in and spend about $100 a trip once or twice a week. Now I go in every 3 to 4 months and spend $30-$50. Just don’t go in anymore because it’s not as good as it used to be they’ve changed recipes they make rice, crunchy and not soft. They lowered the quantity of fish that you get in the rolls. And the flavor is just not there anymore. Also, they make wasabi what appears to be three days in advance because it is dry hard and not soft and moist as wasabi should be. Now I do realize it’s not wasabi. It’s just horseradish powder. However, it should be moist and soft. Also, they used to have Soju which is no longer available.
