Went for a late lunch and it was excellent. I started with a hot cup of thick, creamy clam chowder full of plump pieces of tender clams. Then the Chicken Tenders. WOW! juicy and tender but crispy on the outside with 2 different dips, plus some great thin, string, tasty fries. Ocean view of course and great service at the bar.
When we visit Oceanside we always make it over to The Broiler for the appetizer sampler! Fried calamari strips, coconut shrimp with a delicious sweet salsa, some large cocktail shrimp and the chicken lettuce wraps with that spicy chili sauce. The perfect option for a taste of the best of everything at the harbor. Other options we have tried are steak, clam chowder, the pasta and bread.. all so just delicious!

Mid. Hot sourdough bread was the best thing
Perfect place for Sunday afternoon mai tais and an order of calamari while enjoying the harbor view.
Great service and the mai tais were only $8 on happy hour.

I’ve been coming to the Broiler in Oceanside Harbor for quite a few years. I’ve consistently enjoyed their beer selection, the staff, and the food. One of my buddies and I meet here pretty regularly and have done so over the years. It’s a unique location because it allows a view of the harbor, the sea lions, and people — perfect for people-watching.
As a thriller author, I appreciate the variety of landscapes and the people-watching opportunities to get ideas for my next novel. My favorite is the Baja fish tacos. They are by far one of the best. My buddy usually ends up getting sliders, which are also an excellent choice. Being able to order off the happy hour menu always helps with the credit card damage.
There are four or five dining areas. The patio in the very front when you walk in is a little more secluded and private, with a nice view of the boats. In the back, where my buddy and I usually sit, is a really big lanai patio with a great view of the harbor. Inside, there’s a smaller area to the right when you enter where a few people sit. In the main area, there’s quite a sizable dining space. And in the bar, there are high-top style tables as well as standard booth-type tables. Quite a variety. We’ve eaten inside several times when the weather is inclement.
Even though San Diego is all about the beach and the ocean, there aren’t that many places to actually sit and enjoy the waterfront. This is definitely a place where my thriller characters would come to eat. The Oceanside Broiler is definitely one of them. Recommended.

The drinks were so-so, the food very average (the fish was not fresh), but the clam chowder soup was great!
Great food, service & atmosphere!!

I met my friend here at this place for lunch while l was in Oceanside visiting from Arizona. Service was good, but for what you get at lunch, it’s a rip-off! $54 for lunch?!! I had supposedly jumbo shrimp in wine, butter and garlic with garlic toast and rice. The shrimp looked like medium shrimp!. She only had a tuna sandwich. Terrible prices!! I’d never go there again. Totally overpriced for what you get!!
Ordered a sirloin cooked medium.
After 20 min it arrived gray throughout with grill lines that looked colored on with a permanent marker. I didn’t even have to cut into it to know it was not quality steak.
I cut into it, it was uniformly gray from edge through to the center.
Politely I showed the server and she immediately took it back noting that she told them “medium”.
Another 20 min wait and I got a medium rare steak that was gray lined but nearly blue on center.
I frustratingly kept this one and it turned out to be extremely bland as if the cook didn’t put a single grain of salt on it.
Extremely disappointed. The server offered a free desert but I wasn’t interested.
Never returning.

This is the best place to eat near the Oceanside Harbor. Eat the seafood. They have a Huge menu, but a lot of stuff isn't supposed to be ordered. They are not Cheesecake Factory, they just add random items to sooth the tourists, but the seafood is great. Thats what they are good at. Cioppino is great. The steamed clams, the seafood pasta. All great. Even the spinach dip is good. But don't order burgers or chicken or any other random American food dish, they aren't great at that, they just have those items to please everyone. just get the seafood. And thank me later.
Happy hour menu all day. Great views. Love it. The mussels and fish tacos are really good!
First time I have been here and now will be a place we make sure we go to when in town . Food was good service was amazing a beautiful little spot to eat outdoors. We were in for lunch didn’t want to get to full family of 4 decided to do family style and order stuff off Happy Hour menu to share and nibble on . Everything was good only complaint I’d have is I wouldn’t get the Caesar salad was $8 very small and plain nothing special. They did make amazing mocktails for our nephews that were with us .
We ordered the oysters, clam chowder, mahi mahi tacos, and swordfish entree. The food was not good. The oysters were served with a side of watered down vinegar and unappetizing floating onion cuts. The mahi mahi fish tacos were dry and hard. The swordfish and sides were bland. It could have been served in a cafeteria. We enjoyed the view but not the food. I wouldn’t eat here again or recommend anyone else to either.
I love coming here for happy hour. Most of the staff are very friendly. Had a weird interaction with Cassandra last week. I hope she was just having a bad day! Everyone is always so friendly, it was weird to see someone who looked like they didn’t want to be there, or rather didn’t want to be bothered with us. The happy hour menu is pretty limited if you’re a vegetarian but if you aren’t then there is a ton to pick from! Nice little seaside restaurant!
