This establishment offers a nice local market feel with a grocery store, a food truck/produce area out front, and a restaurant on the side. The reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because overall, I feel Primo Market is a shadow of its former self from just a couple of years back: prices have gone up disproportionately and the restaurant has deteriorated, both in the quality of the food and most notably the service. The restaurant is a walk-up style short order Mexican restaurant, where you place your order through the window, pay, get a number, and then they call your number and give you your food in take-out containers. There is a seating area where you can sit and eat if you want. The last two times I’ve been here, I have waited 35 and 40 minutes for an overpriced $15
burrito, which was in fact a pretty small burrito compared to other similar places in the area. 35-40 minutes is completely unacceptable for this type of place. You can get the exact same food at Diego’s or Alberto’s up the street in 5 minutes or less and the prices are better. I won’t be coming back and if I had any advice for the management who hopefully reads this, you need to revamp your restaurant and probably hire more (and better) cooks. I’m not expecting a Michelin restaurant experience, but a quick burrito in 10 minutes or less should be achievable.
What happened to Primo?! The only food worth buying is the special on wings and tacos on select days, otherwise you will be paying gentrified hip Oside prices. This side of fries was $10. These drinks are a medium and a small. Notice the size difference? Barely.
If you buy the 4 tacos alone they are less than $8 with tax included. Buy the combo it’s $16 plus tax, that’s $8 plus tax for the side of rice and beans.
This taco plate, fries and drink were $38. It’s about the principle not the money, as we threw away most of the fries because they are the battered greasy typical from frozen, versus the fresh cut looking fries in their menu photos.
Enjoy and tip in their jar.
Just stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for some great asada nachos and chicken tacos. They had a variety of choices for our five kiddos. The atmosphere is unique, staff helpful and friendly, and the food was great.
Best bbq in Cali!
Great meat options and home made guacamole and bbq.
This place is amazing and really cares about the food they serve! The wings here are splendid, better than a lot of other wing places.
Theirs prices are quite high, but their guac, ceviches, and in-house chips are AMAZING.
Always helpful. Good produce.
Anyone who lives in Carlsbad knows this is their secret. Amazing BBQ, large portions, excellent customer service! They opened 3rd location in San Clemente with long lines.
A MUST VISIT!!!
I don’t know how it gets crowded and how much people rave about this place. Went for their .69 special so I ordered one dozen each of asada, pastor, chicharrón, chicken and carnitas(super greasy). Got them for dinner, by the time I got home I noticed we were missing two dozen and they were already cold. They barely had any meat or onion and cilantro. Last time going there. Making my own or willing to travel for better quality. I don’t care how much I paid… this was a joke. I wonder if people who enjoy these ever had good tacos before.

Best Tri tip and brisket ever
We bought their ceviche, guacamole, one of their spicy salsas and some carne asada. Their ceviche is the best. It didn’t last long! Definitely recommend this place.
My sister is a local and she took me here and holy moly best tacos ever, and not like $5 each so you can have plenty for a reasonable price. Their ceviche is better than anything I’ve ever tasted before, it’s a must!!!
We are always here either on a Tuesday or a Friday. Cannot beat that price!
Good tacos.
