Good flavor food, friendly service and a nice atmosphere...but a bit pricey.

I was there on a Friday night. It should have been packed but it wasn't. The food was decent, tacos were well received. The breakfast burrito tasted good but had too many potatoes and not enough eggs, but that is a problem with a lot the Mexican restaurants in the Oceanside area. They had a nice salsa bar with 5 or 6 sauces. It missed being great as the spice level was either too hot or not spicy at all.
The biggest pain wasn't ordering the food at the counter it was going around the corner to the bar. The bartender, perhaps the owner, was rude and derisive. Put damper on the whole experience. Perhaps a bad night for him with few people there but it was bad enough I won't be returning.
Don't drink go eat the food it was good. Drink my suggestion is to go elsewhere.

I still enjoy hitting every dive bad, greasy spoon and habadashery a long the way and sharing them with you. I was not expecting to review this place yet because I was just popping in for a cheap, quick bite I didn't think it would be fair to evaluate them based on that. Boy was I wrong. Chanel took my order and was friendly and fun laughing along with my foolish banter and Damien manned the grill. $5 carnitas quesadilla is what the sandwich board said so I went with that. Decided to try a different Mexican restaurant. Was surprised it didn't have table service you have to order at the counter and they bring it to you but we realized they didn't have enchiladas they didn't have tostadas we weren't impressed

How to take a great place and great food and screw it up. Had our traditional fish burrito on the drive from LA back to San Diego and lately the food became to be plain the fish dry and the burrito is full of cabbage and cheap corn making more money is important but dropping quality will drop the profits eventually
I had an errand in Oceanside so I did a quick Google search and landed on Señor Grubby's. I rarely say no to tacos. I popped in for a late lunch of tacos, nachos and a margarita.
The cashier was cheerful and friendly. The bartender was a efficient and attentive.
The restaurant is small. It seats maybe 60 - 70 inside and maybe a dozen nor more outside. There are a few booths, maybe 10 tables, and a patio for dining. The dining room was half full mid-afternoon with couples, families and solo diners like me.
A bar also runs the length of the dining room. It seats about 10-ish and was populated by lively guys watching a game.
I can tell this is a place favored by locals. The cashier greeted several people by name. The bartender chatted with the guys at the bar watching the game.
My chicken tacos, beans, and nachos were very tasty. I added salsa from the salsa bar to give them some kick. I love that the closer you get to the border, the better the Mexican food is.
If you're ever in Oceanside, be sure to stop by Señor Grubby's. 🌮

I want to love the food so much, because the food quality is great! But the issue lies in the seasoning of the meats, and the guacamole. If these were fixed it would be great.
