Honestly I wish I could gatekeep this place but I want this place to succeed. There’s a waiter named Tony who’s above and beyond awesome and amazing, we are always happy when he’s our waiter. The other staff are just as nice and attentive, but we’re biased for Tony. The meat quality is great, my personal favorite is the short rib. The side dishes are great, they’re the best on some days and ok on others - it depends on when the batch is made. Sonu BBQ has become my favorite KBBQ place in the southern CA region. It’s Oceanside’s best kept secret.

Nineteen people from the company went with me. The friendly service was good, and the price was low and unlimited refills, so everyone enjoyed it. The brisket and salad at this restaurant are delicious. And I grilled raw shrimp, which is quite fresh and large. The size of corn cheese is quite large. It was nice to grill mushrooms and pumpkins on the side together. I also recommend Korean beer. They were kind to me even though there were a lot of people, so I had a great meal time with my colleagues at work.
This place has a great atmosphere when you walk in and the customer service is amazing. They seated us extremely quickly and were very attentive to us. Whenever we ordered more meat it was brought to us very quickly and they even changed the grill for us twice in order to make sure we always had a fresh one ready. The music playing was definitely some great choices and it was not so loud that we could not hear each other speak so that was nice. I would definitely recommend this Korean BBQ to anyone that enjoys this type of experience and food.

Our favorite place to dine out in North County! The customer service is exceptional, best Korean BBQ food options over other places in the area, and the ambiance can be a bit lively with the background music and flat screen TV's for the sports games, nonetheless still appropriate for family dinner!
Service is really good. They came by to change the grill several times without me even asking. The waitlist option on Yelp is really nice too so you don't have to wait too long once you arrive which is definitely helpful for those with young kids and little patience.Ambiance is typical for Kbbq places. Bathroom floors were a bit slippery and one of the stalls in the women's restroom had the metal hook hanging off and when I opened the door it cut my pinky.. so beware of that.Food has 2 tiers - deluxe and premium. Premium has more options like Kobe beef, salmon and poke bowl but we just we went with the deluxe option as that has all the typical meats and also shrimp, squid and some other options. Brisket was okay. The marinated short ribs were well seasoned and was quite tasty. We got the fresh squid but it wasn't my favorite. Shrimp is shell on so my husband was lazy to peel it...I also got an order of the kimchi stew which was a bit too sour for my tastes. The side dishes weren't as good as other places either. Kimchi fried rice wasn't my favorite either. They did have corn cheese and that was quite good. All in all, it's a decent option for a kbbq place but not my favorite.

I'm so glad Oceanside now has Korean BBQ restaurants because Oceanside needs more variety and this place doesn't disappoint! I'm not a Korean BBQ connoisseur, but I know good food and I've had a variety of all the meats and sides.Favorites are kimchi rice, cheese corn, marinated sliced beef, and Cajun shrimp. Come hungry cause you are going to leave stuffed!!

Always a great experience everytime we come , we've been regulars for a long time that they even remember our order. There's a waitress I think her name is New Year? She's always welcoming and friendly towards not only me but other parties as well, she's the server who always remembers what we order , it gives off a good mood before we start feasting . We came here mostly because of the meat and also because of her service , always treating us like a family. Overall the food and service is top notch !! Portions are big enough to fill a belly , if you are someone who eats less , you can ask for half portions . Good thing about Sonu is that you can always customize a certain order , they also have hidden sauces at the back, you just have to ask for it. We always get the premium menu which includes everything in the menu, I recommend the Kope beef , brisket , bulgogi ( try it with rice paper and the ponzu sauce ) , bacon Enoki is their unique item they have it's bacon wrapped with string mushrooms ( one of my favorite) they also serve tempura shrimp which is on the premium menu, and they have chicken wings both Korean bbq style and Cajun chicken wings ( includes in the deluxe plan) . The Corn cheese , my absolute favorite and it's very big but we still order our own individual ones . Personally I think the price is worth it of all the meat options they serve . Premium plan is 32.99 , deluxe is 28.99 and for the kids they're charged according to their height . I also found out that there's a price for Vegetarian. Wait time can be very long and busy but with their good service it could go by very fast . Ambiance is okay, it's clean but then also there might be still some grease on the tables depends on how busy they are, we're very understanding so it's not a problem for us . Sonu is my favorite Korean bbq place and I'll always be happy to spend my money here .
